A Flavor of a New brew - An AFN update

OK, in case you missed it because of ALL CAPS TITLING on the main board, I say again...

A Flavor of a New brew.

What do you mean, you say? Why I'm glad you asked.

I've been moved to a program called the Barista Blend , which is a play on mellow music you might hear in a coffeeshop. Now, this is essentially a AAA format, at least those are the tracks dominating the half-playlist. The currents and recurrents are listed, then the rest of the show is yours to do with as you please, just so long as you keep the mellow flow a flowin'. I expect the reason for this is because I can follow a format to a tee, even without guidance, which I've been told I'm the only volunteer who cares or is able to do so. Of course it helps when you have an entire wall of TM (Century/Jones/Studios) music-farm discs to choose from.

Thing is, I fell into it quite by accident as there was no one else to do the show, so I just kept on going after my original 4 hour afternoon show. So I was literally playing it by ear with no show prep, and only my keen musical taste as my guide because I know relatively little about these types of bands. Any help would be appreciated, cause there ain't no one to train me proper on this here. :-\ As it is, the majority of the day is now satellite (Z-rock) because they have virtually no one to do any shows right now.

Say, anyone wanting to get into a broader sense of broadcasting right now could enlist in any branch of service (though I don't see any Navy ones here). Just how bad do you want to do radio... and/or TV, news writing, print or whatever else an Army 46R does? And who doesn't want to walk into a station armed? ;) But hey, if you decide you want to, give me a shout out first so I can enter a referral and get a cool $2G's. Plus, I can hook you up with the list of prerequisites.

On a side note, things are progressing somewhat slowly regarding my occupation reclassification, but it seems as if I'll have no local opposition from the powers-that-be and I've talked with the branch manager for the Public Affairs side of the house, who is essentially waiting with open arms, provided I have a few prerequisites knocked out. The only one that may give me trouble is the transcript of 2-years of High School English. Unfortunately, I did not get through 2 full years of English (although I was certainly in classes for that long, :-X). I just dropped out and got my GED later, of which I displayed a strong showing in the writing category. Hopefully, this will be waiverable, and I just don't see why it couldn't be.

Anyway, salutations from the "No longer forgotten war". (Saw that on some news program somewhere.)
