At least they're doing something to preserve the most pervasive art form of the past 80 years. The art, and it's most creative players, are rapidy disappearing. I don't know the founders of the group but I thank them.
Please cut them some slack. I think the $25 is very fair. They have no other financial support, and they have expenses, including at least one employee. And as the person above said, they're doing something worthy.
Thank you for your supporting comments. We DO have expenses, we have NO salaried employees, and we ARE a registered Georgia non profit corporation. The Georgia Radio Hall of Fame was founded by investments of money and time by the board of directors. For all of us, it is a labor of love of radio, past, present, and future.
I'll probably send in my payment but have no interest in voting. Some of the people among the first nominees shouldn't be on the list to begin with as there are many deserving people who have vastly contributed to Georgia broadcasting and didn't even make the cut. Notice the heavy emphasis on former QXI individuals for instance. I think there should have been a committee to make nominations and then let the members vote, otherwise, what we end up with is a bunch of people nominating and voting for themselves, and each other, kinda like voting for superlatives in high school. By the way, no slur was intended by my QXI reference.....
Quixe was my favorite station during the 60s & 70s. Thanks.
