A get well card for Dennis Jackson

Dennis:

I know that it will be a long time before you are able read this. But the good news is that you are well enough to check this board. No doubt that you’ve gotten wind of the support and concern expressed here for you.

Your accident it’s a painful reminder of how tenuous and fragile our existence is. Just when you get into a groove life grabs hold of your shoulders and shakes you and emphatically utters in your ear… "Anything could happen at anytime"! The best that you as a human being can do is to acknowledge that fact and include a measure of the realignment of your perspective in your daily life.

These occasional and often painful reminders of our own mortality do have a way of reprioritizing the things we hold dear in life. And when this is fully behind you and you get into another groove… (I can predict from personal experience) That this brush with fate which you are recovering from will almost certainly add an increased, though subtle understanding, depth and richness to every big and small thing that you do from now on. That’s what they call being "tempered by fire".

I wish you a speedy recovery and a bright future. It has been my pleasure to get to know you… As one person on this board put it "You truly are one of radio’s good guys". I regret that I didn’t get to know you years ago.

Sincerely,

Louie Manno
