A great article RE Cumulus and Rush!

From a pure business perspective, you stick with Rush. The weak attempt at taking him down has failed and Huck, while he could ultimately build a successful show in another slot, cannot compete against Rush.

That said, I think Dickey painted himself into a corner. The negotiations with Huckabee predated 2/2012.

Now Rush has put Cumulus on notice because Dickey kept bad mouthing him.

Cumulus might have gotten some concessions from Premiere, but now they may end up paying more because of this brouhaha.

Rush will decide when he's done. He'll likely outlast Cumulus.

They won't pay more. As discussed in other boards, Premiere has limited options in a lot of major markets like Dallas and Chicago, so they're better off with Cumulus. Premiere knows Dickey is right, because they too admitted they lost money because of talk.

Huckabee is on FOX, Limbaugh isn't unless Greta van Sustern plays clips of his show. That does give Huckabee a little more exposure in the conservative market. Limbaugh's TV show and his NFL TV job did not go over well, I don't think he is mainstream enough for TV.

Everything runs it's course I guess. CB radios, Bell bottom pants, TV Westerns, now talk radio and American Idol.

If corporations leverage up to expand, then face hard times because of it, I am sure that is something Limbaugh would defend as part of the wonderful process of risk taking and capitalism. Most of his sponsors seem pretty narrow, with about 60% being conservative groups.
