A great band opening!

Apparently, the band was open for a litte while today. Managed to pull in KKJQ 97.3 from western Kansas on the way home from work today in Bedford County, VA. Any other reports?

Yes...WQEN 103.7 Trussville-Birmingham, AL...had it for about ten minutes in Johnson County, NC (just west of Durham). The HD notification was flashing on my radio but it would never switch to HD mode.

I got you beat on this one... ;D I, too, was getting central and western Kansas stations this afternoon around 5:30... from Virginia Beach. My farthest catch was KSSH/96.3 Ingalls KS, about 1,400 miles away from me... Here's a http://www.vartv.com/media/dxing_2007_07_26.wma I got today...

Wow... that would have been huge to catch that HD signal. I captured my catches (see above) with an HD radio (hooked up to an attic FM-only antenna)... My farthest catches with HD signals from Virginia Beach have come from WRVQ/94.5 Richmond and WMXB/103.7 Richmond... 100+ miles away...

The band certainly sounds like it was in good shape yesterday. Bob, the recordings sound very good. I don't have HD yet because as you well know, NPR and WZBL are the only HD stations in the area here. Looking forward to hearing some more DX!

It was back today...had some hardcore openings both here and throughout the SE.

I was on 360 in Charlotte County and picked up KTFM/San Antonio, KLBJ Austin, KKRW Houston and a bunch of DC stations...

Further down on I-95 having lunch in Lumberton, NC I pulled KLRZ Larouse (not a positive ID, but the only station I could find that plays swamp pop on 100.3) KLMG New Orleans, and some others.

In the boonies of SC (about 50 miles west of Charleston) I was picking up WLVE Miami, WEDR Miami, WHKR Melbourne/Titusville, and WBGG Ft. Lauderdale.

Thought y'all might want proof that skip works both ways:

The South Louisiana / South Mississippi FM dial was flooded with skip from you good folks. While on I-12 / I-55 from Baton Rouge to Jackson, MS, I ID'd 102.1 WMXT Pamplico, SC (now I know what a "Pee Dee" is), 101.9 WIKS New Bern, NC, and from your fair state 96.1 WROX Virginia Beach and 93.3 WFLS Fredericksburg. Over two hours I must have chased NASCAR around 4 or 5 signals as they came and went.

Big fun.
