A "Green" Party buys AAR; Hartmann to replace Franken

It says that Hartmann is a local host in Portland OR, which I've heard is one of the few markets where AAR gets notable ratings, so that could be a good sign for them.

I wonder if AAR did well there because it's a 25,000 watt station that actually promoted the content?

Those, and a good local weekday host, are all positive factors, none of which we had in the Boston area affiliates.
 
WKOXKS getting lousy ratings with AAR... was NOT because of the signal, but rather the content. Can we not remember that WXKS ALONE got 4's and 3's back in the 80's, and just under 1's in 2005? (just under 1's is higher than when it had AAR). If ya put on a good product, then the listeners will come. Problem with WKOXKS is that its/AAR's on-air sound was poorly-done, with L-O-N-G breaks, most often containing the most obnoxious and same PSA's over and over again. By the time you made it thru the 5-minute PSA-cluster and then the programming continued, one would likely forget WHAT the last topicc of the programming WAS! If AAR sounded better and didn't have such long breaks, the numbers would have been a lot better for all AAR stations. It's NOT the signal. Oh yes, the signal hurts.... but not as much as the programming.

Don't forget WXKS/WKOX also had a 6-hour-a-day Jones presence with Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz.
BTW, I hear many of the SAME PSA's on WGAM, Gnashua and WCAP Lowell.
