A HORRIBLE CHR....

1. 'Strokin' by Clarence Carter was played....
2. ...shortly before that, 'Slip 'N Slide' by Tia aired (and the locals say it plays about 6-8 X a week!!!!!)
3. Mitch Craig voice imaging.

KQID/Alexandria, Louisiana is just awful. After driving through I logged on to see what the stations all about on their website. There ite is as bad as the station too. And you can listen live on it! Please do and tell me what you guys think too!! www.q93fm.com

Weird signal location too...looks like their main audience is cows and fish

I kinda like the music variety. It's an Adult friendly sound, but not in a borning sort of way. Definitely not a cookie-cutter CHR, but rather one that plays some records that fit the market and should be given a chance. Quite a few CHRs used to sound this way before things got so corporate. Kisser 93.7 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas sounds pretty similar to it, as does WIFC 95.5 Wausau, WI. Mix 106.7 in Dothan, AL beats them all though as far as giving you that hometown CHR radio sound, with plenty of records not played elsewhere.

Drove through over the weekend and heard the same thing; I'm biased, being the former PD, so I'll hold my thoughts to myself & let the numbers tell us if the direction taken since I left is the right one taken. Wish 'em all luck.

Not to brag, but we were tied #1 12+ and always #1 or #2 P 18-34, women 18-34 and 25-54 the last 4-5 years. So the next guy's taking a different approach, but maybe a different approach will work, too. It's a .... ."unique" market, to say the least.

But the version of "Strokin'" I heard was unedited!!! Might wanna check that one, guys.

This is horrible? No it's not - it's just different. And with the safe cookie-cutter approach to radio that we see for every format here in the Northeast, I would love to have a station just like this one out here.

The ONLY thing I see wrong with that their LAST 10 TRACKS... is the Little Ricky. If that is a GOLD or RECURRENT of theirs...it needs to go. Other than that.... It is right on the money.

Why would it need to go? just b/c most stations don't have it in rotation anymore doesn't mean that it's faired badly at this partticular station.
Simply relying on R&R's recurrent chart isn't going to get you very far if you wish to program a real successful CHR in most markets.
Josh C's reply in general though is good - the station is right on the money.

Sorry. Your right. I should have mentioned that specific song didnt go anywhere in our market. So, this is why it would never be place in a recurrent or gold category. From what I remember... it seemed as if that song came out of nowhere "BAM!" from 72 to 12 or so...then vanished pretty fast. However, I could be wrong.

That "last 10" was from back in May! hahaha.

But thanks. I program it.
