A K call sign in Alabama?

TVRadioWorld has 1230 in Talladega (WNUZ) listed as KCNL. Those calls were last used on a Clear Channel alternative station in the Bay Area, which is now apparently KMJO. CC doesn't own 1230, Birmingham Christian Radio (which owns a Talladega station and is based in Virginia) does.

Is the station finally going JACK-AM as Kramer once predicted? :) Or is TVRadioWorld going off the deep end, which would be odd, as they're generally extremely reliable on call/format changes and even beat the FCC to the punch?

I know one of the Huntsville area WAY-FM translators (which I assume is no longer operating since WAYH has started broadcasting) had a "K" callsign.
______________

I remember that. I'm guessing the reason for that was that Way FM moved the transmitter from some Western location to Huntsville and it retained the calls. But that's not the case here. Could CC just be parking these calls on a silent station to prevent someone else in the South Bay from using them? If so, why use an Alabama station to do this?

Nope. Not even close.

TVRadioWorld is wrong. There is no KCNL in the FCC's AM Database. It shows in the FM database as still being used in Sunnyvale, CA, because it's still a Bay Area Clear Channel alternative station.

There is no KMJO. WNUZ is still WNUZ.
______________

That could just mean that the FCC hasn't updated. They had the WUHT calls posted at least a day before the FCC when 107.7 flipped.

Monkeys might fly out of my butt, too, but that's about equally as likely as KCNL being assigned to an AM in Alabama. Never mind that the other call sign changes you mentioned in the post didn't happen, either.
______________
