A K-EARTH Deathwatch?

Now that Infinity has flipped their New York City (market 1) and Chicago (market 3) oldies stations to the new Jack FM format could this mean a change is coming sooner than later to 101.1 K-EARTH. I know Infinity has already launched a Jack in Los Angeles on the former Arrow frequency so they would have to go in a totally different direction formatwise with 101.1fm.
LA is currently the largest market with both a country and oldies FM station so I think anything maybe possible at 101.1fm.

There aren't a lot of obvious format holes for KRTH to fill - that bring them the north of $30 million they bill each year...

Also, it is doubtful Infinity would flip another station in the market so soon after flipping 93.1 to Jack.

And, if they had planned on flipping 101.1, I think they would have left Arrow alone and put Jack in place of K-Earth.

BTW, anyone still wondering what Infinity plans to have Johnny B. do for the rest of his contract? Mornings on KLSX after January, perhaps?

The only thing that has saved KFRC-FM in SF from a similar fate has been that another company beat them to the punch there. They've already gone JACK here in LA with sister FM KCBS, but KRTH could still salvage the oldies format.
Can you say "Rick Dees"? I truly feel that a name like his is the only salvation they would have. That and re-thinking their playlist.
Just an opinion...

Speaking of contracts.... I've heard Tami Hedi's voice on 93.1 Jack FM's concert spots and misc station promo's.<P ID="signature">______________

Could be. Jack Silver is a huge Johnny B. fan. He was Johhny's program director in Chicago for a while. He was also the person who got CBS to put Johnny on in L.A. (middays on 97.1) when he became the PD of KLSX. Although, wouldn't you think CBS would want to have their new show, whatever it may be, ready to debut in January so they can take advantage of the cume? It would be a lot harder to bring listeners back to sample a new show after Johnny B. turns their airwaves into a ghost town. How long is Johnny B. under contract? Anyone know?

Well they could always go after KIIS/KPWR and finally get their own Chr/Rhythmic or CHR/Pop station.

Haven't heard anything about Tami H at JACK.

As for Johnny B, well he's had 2 runs at LA and it would seem LA doesn't like what it heard. The city of Chicago and Jack Silver may love the guy, but his act just doesn't work in LA. He repeats himself way too much. I kept hearing the guy say the same thing over and over again. Sometimes 5 or six times in a 2 minute period. He takes forever to get to the point as well. Please tell Silver to spare us the pain.

Johhny B. is not going to re-appear on Infinity Los Angeles. Last I heard, his people were trying to get him back on in Chicago (where they understand his show). He'd continue to broadcast from Los Angeles.
