Why don't you post those women numbers? Most avails come in for Adults and Women. You're forgetting a whole cell. Maybe it might make one of your stations look real bad? I don't know. I do know one station looks real good that didn't used to, but I bet that's all coming from one meter in surprise right? You guys are going great! Keep it up!

Why don't you post the female numbers? I know most avails that come in are adults and women. Maybe it might make one of your stations look real bad? I don't know.

I only posted one male demo because Akbar mentioned KDKB ... they are still strong in Men ... all of the Hubbard stations are.

Females was like it usually is... ZZP, ZON, Mix, KESZ, KNIX...

Lots of Hot AC shares ... record numbers in several female and adult demos for 97.5 and 103.9 (at least in PPM) ...

Nurse Jeff and I wonder if Mother Hubbard will consider sports for KDKB given the lack of that format on FM? Given the number of male listeners on their other stations, there are some attractive synergies. But what do we know? ... we're still trying to figure out the actual body count for Lumberyard 14~Forty's 0.2 share. Maybe the number of shoppers in a Home Depot and Lowe's combined?!

I realize that 90% of the Valley moved here a week ago and has no idea of the heritage, but I can't imagine a world without KDKB being a rock station.

But stranger things have happened.

Like the legendary KFRC calls on an FM news station in San Francisco. KCBS All News 106~Nine FM and 7~Forty AM. The only time the KFRC calls are mentioned are at the top of the hour.

FM SportsTalk is tearing it up across the fruited plains and the fact we aint got one in Phoenix must be playing in the back of Mother Hubbard's mind. Their WXOS in St Louis does quite well, thank you.

The future of KDKB could be a whole new topic!

I just think it's funny (both ha-ha funny and ironic funny) that at a time when 92.3 wants to suddenly be a sports station, too, one of the nuttiest World Series in history is barely an afterthought for them. Suns home opener? Really? No offense, but I don't know anyone talking about basketball right now.

That's KTAR for you. If it's a major sports event opposite the [insert Valley team here], you're either better off listening to it in Spanish on 710 or in static on 1700. I've done that with baseball and the NBA Finals.

From what I understand, ESPN Radio charges the affiliates extra for live game PxP, so many affiliates don't carry it, local games or not. They also offer their regular programming on another feed.

Fortunately, 1700 in San Diego came in fairly well tonight so the game was available here the old-fashioned way, via Ancient Modulation with any kind of decent radio. You'd think TMISU would have bumped the Halleluyah crowd on 860 for the World Series (they certainly can afford the extra charge) if they have to carry the Coyotes or Suns on 620.

It's only a matter of time before somebody does it. If I were TMISU, I'd also be thinking about where to grow the Arizona Sports brand.

It's not worth it if you don't have games, and KDUS doesn't, other than ASU baseball & women's hoops and Compass Media's NFL coverage. TMISU own everything else other than Tucson Mildrats and Westwood One games on Fox Sports 910. I don't think Mother Hubbard will waste an FM signal for 4th-tier sports-babble from NBC and a couple of local talkers.

TMISU sold just about all their radio stations a few years back to....ummm, let me think...oh yeah, Mother Hubbard! And Mom's CEO is none other than Bruce Reese, former CEO for TMISU, who has his office in Salt Lake City, where Mom doesn't have any stations.

Hmmmmmm.

Yes, TMISU need to grow their AZ Sports brand...but they won't buy another FM, even though they have the bucks and room for three more in Phoenix. And how many FM's does Mother Hubbard have in Phoenix? That's right: 3.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Nurse Jeff calls it "The 5 FM degrees of Dr Akbar" theory, but I call it completely possible.

Akbar is right but I'd say it's essentially a done deal. Hubbard bought Seattle and Phoenix from Sandusky. They have room for two more FM's in Phoenix and Seattle. Bonneville has one FM in Seattle and two here. I don't believe this deal was a coincidence. Peak is among the top 5 in Men and KDKB fills a big hole musically between Soft Classic Rock KSLX and KUPD. Imagine adding KPKX and KTAR-AM/FM to the mix. I'm sure it's about other things outside of PHX and Seattle that could be holding the announcement up. I don't believe this is an if, it's a when. Bonneville is a good company who cares about their people and tries to sell to like minded companies and obviously they like and respect Bruce, Drew, Greg, and their executives at Hubbard. I'd be shocked if this deal isn't done by 2014. That's why you likely won't see KDKB move to Sports IMHO.

Reason #17 why Phoenix needs an FM Sports Parkinglot: Thu night ASU played Washington St on 6~Twenty, while 92~Three droned on with Dave Ramsey. And 8~Sixty had the Yotes.

Here's a Halloween oddity: Nurse Jeff and I were trying to listen to the ASU game on Tune-In Radio while trick-or-treating. Seems someone switched the feed and we were forced to listen to the Yotes game from 8~Sixty. YIKES! Good thing the '76 Gremlin was nearby and we could get our Devils' fix on Ancient Modulation.

It shows you how much respect the Yotes get. I think the good news is when Mother Hubbard buys the Bonneville cluster, they can give the Yotes their own radio station and run them on the Lamptimer. All six hockey fans in Tempe and Scottsdale will be able to hear the games ... and then they can repeat them in morning drive the next day.

The Yotes on Lumberyard 4~Forty? YIKES! That night signal goes about as far west as the 51, so the play by play guys won't be able to monitor the air signal from Glendale. But you're right...all six hockey fans in Tempe and Scottsdale will be happy. As long as they're not south of Elliot or north of Shea.

As far as Mother Hubbard buying out TMISU in Phoenix, our recollection is Bonneville got 6~Twenty and 98~Seven in a swap and cash deal with Emmis. Then TMISU bought 92~Three from Emmis for $77.5m. Could they sell those stations for anywhere near purchase price today? hmmmm...doubt it. Here's a reality check: Mom just paid $88.5m for six Gumpdusky FM's in Phoenix and Seattle.

One of the biggest obstacles to overcome in a Hubbard/BBS deal is the loss TMISU will take on their stations in Phoenix, Seattle and the stand alone in el Lay. Salt Lake will never be sold.

But who knows, maybe Wonderful Russ can arrange a short sale that makes this happen!

These companies all know they can't get anywhere near what they paid. The biggest issue with anyone buying Bonneville (from what I hear) is that Diamondbacks contract one of their former GM's signed for a large sum. Hubbard paid either 6.5 or 7 times cash flow for the Sandusky stations. That's pretty much standard for PHX.

Now there is some good news here for Lumberyard fans. If/when the Bonneville/Hubbard deal happens, they will have to sell one of the AM's to make the deal work. Have to think 1440 would be the one. Then you and Nurse Jeff can buy it and use the Gremlin as the station vehicle.

Additional good news - the Gremlin can also function as a back up power supply for the Lamptimer as its tail lights put out more radiated power than does that garage door opener transmitter.

Then we're paying 6.5-7 times cash flow, which means we give them the Gremlin and they give us Lumberyard 14~Forty and a check for $25.00. Sounds fair to Nurse Jeff and me!
