You shouldn't assume that I'm a satellite radio enthusiast, much less a shill for eith XM or Sirius, just because I'm critical of IBOC. In fact, I'm anything but a fan of satellite.
So I thought that the pro-IBOC crowd would enjoy the report on www.insideradio.com today (and you'd better see it today, because it'll be gone tomorrow).
Inside Radio is reporting that Sirius is inflating its subscriber list by counting nearly 500,000 unsold cars on dealer lots, and their CFO rationalized this at a Merrill Lynch meeting by saying that it wasn't a big deal because the number of cars on dealer lots that are included in the subscriber count has dropped from ten to eight percent of the subscriber total over the past year.
Now that's salesmanship!
