A Legendary Gospel Singer Has Passed On

Mr. George Beverly Shea passed on April the 16th 2013.

My grandmother loved his music very much.

She's not hear to learn of his death but I'm sure he's now singing to her in Heaven.

Not to my taste in music, but a great man of God. I am sure his fans will greatly miss him. I have a story, as always. In my search for new material, I frequented a flea market for records by Christian artists for a "Christian oldies" show. The flea market vendor began to know who I was and what I was looking for and would save things for me. Finally, one day, he donated his entire Christian section to me - some 400 albums. George Beverly Shea was well represented in the collection. I found maybe 30 albums I could use on the air out of the 400, and found a gospel fan who wanted the rest. 400 albums were really heavy - weighed down the rear of my little car, but I got them the 20 miles to where we agreed to meet. This fellow was one of those who didn't like our show, but I was glad to re-home those albums where they would be appreciated. My only regret is that years later someone in radio wanted those records, which were donated years before.
