A legitimate question about OEDIPUS: Why hasn't he bounced back?

It would be fair of this brand new poster, Ron Jippey or whatever the name is, to come clean. It doesn't take courage to attack from the shadows.

Being in radio PART TIME as a Hobby more people have probably heard me worldwide - paying gigs - than many on this board will get to be heard in the next 12 months.

People know the resume; if we are to assume you are brand new (which would be a stretch), it would be boring to have to list all the credits again. Anyway, I just finished a tough CD burn of great music shipped to me via e mail (from outside this great country) that has to be pressed tomorrow - on a holiday - and overnighted. So while I am somewhat amused by this board, I have stacks of real work to do. Your vicious slurs about a man who is courageous enough to put his name here are just that. Vicious slurs. I have a good idea who you are. The truth is, my days are full and yours are not. That's why I post my name and you cannot and will not.

The friends of mine on this board know who I am, and what I do for a living. You seem very angry and jealous to keep writing lies without saying who you are.

Keep looking because my deal isn't with I Tunes.

well i hope you deal isn't with Varulven records i don't think they have done anything in years!

seriously though this whole post is just to lure people into attacking joe so he can cry to the board. so nobody else should respond to this lame pointless question.

Just pathetic.

Every thread on this board ends up as "I Me Mine" as covered by Joe Viglione.
[EDIT].

Banned or not, here's a legitimate question: What are the odds of Viglione ever drawing a check for broadcasting work EVER AGAIN ANYWHERE?

Absolutely none, period, never, ever, over and out.

And as far as "your own personal album" goes, uhh, your album? Is that like the album my kid cousin made on his computer the other day? Self realized and self financed, never to be heard by anyone?" Is that like most of your original material that's never heard a second of airtime on any station in America?

Ban away, moderator, as I know you will.

[EDIT=ad homiem attack]

Every thread does not end up a JV thread. Only those where people come in and attack him for his opinion. THEN it becomes all about Joe. If noone would say anything about Joe, Joe would not have much more than his opinion, or stories about his experience to post.

Your opinion is a valid one. You question his professionalism/talent...unfortunately history has shown that this means he will respond with another resume and portfolio. keep the questions relevant to his talent, and leave out the ad hominem remarks.

Managing Board Editor

Thanks, Board Editor, for reiterating that thought.

It's "Ron Jippey" now asking questions. OK, here we go:

Varulven has a brand new single out from a brand new band,
but we ain't going to post it here because, incredibly, there are too many vultures to take away from those who would appreciate that knowledge. Anyone who wants a copy can always ask - great new band with a sound like The Police meets The Cars in the New Millennium.

In the meantime you can go listen to our previous single - it's by me and it is called "There's Nothing Like A Hit."

We've got lots of records in release - and they sell all around the world. As WAAF's Carmelita noted recently, fetching big bucks. All due respect to Howie Carr but some of our discs get more money than his book!

In regards to Jippey's false information: Well, Tower Records has the New Rose 4 CD boxed set with my song
"Moving Forward". New Rose/Paris also just released my version of Willie Loco Alexander's RADIO HEART on the ultra (bonus track) re-release of PLAY NEW ROSE FOR ME. You can get that in many U.S. Stores.

A Kentucky label (I'm not kidding, how close to Kansas is that) re-released "I Want You Sexually", and "There's Nothing Like A Hit" just got picked up by a British label for release in about a month or so.

So you can get LOTS of Count product that Ron Jippey's cousin would LOVE to do Dance Mixes of. ALL the French albums are being re-released with Bonus Tracks! Be sure to reserve your copy of these collectors editions!

Life's Work is currently available. I just finished "Secret Things" tonight (as well as the CD I have to prepare for another label, which I just completed) and there's a studio session tomorrow.

Life is good. Thank you for asking. Varulven Records: Boston's Original Rock Label.

As heard on WBCN which played L-88, Moe Tucker, Unnatural Axe, Barb Kitson & much more of our classic Boston music!

P.S. The Nazz (remember "Hello, It's Me") are doing a trance version of "There's Nothing Like A Hit" for the re-release of my single!

seriouly dude, he started this post to get people to attack him!!! he even said it!!

if he's putting his "resume" out here as some legit radio resume then he should be open to have his resume "examined" by the people here!

i don't know why it's ok for him to inult people like howie or nik for what they do/did or the place they are at now!

And how many times the people on here have to say to him WE DON'T CARE what you've done. if he thinks he's sooo much better then EVERYONE here then WHY does he hang around here?? he doen't need to be banned he just needs to relize we're not as good as him.

hes only on here for the drama of it. it's like somebody that burns down houses so they can call the fire department and report it. he loves the attention of it!

And we really can't blame the board editor for babying him. i've been on the recieving end of his wacky emails and calls to the boss ect. i can't imagaine the crap the board owners get from him about lawyers and lawsuits ect ect. i don't wish for your job!

You do care "Phil", otherwise you would just ignore me. Ignore me. I dare you.

I'm more interesting than anything going on in your house right now.

That is the sad thing.

wow this is great its like being on aim!! how can i ignore you joe?? you and you music make me laugh. it's like making a funny face at a monkey in the zoo. i don't know why we do it but its fun! plus right now im waiting for files to transfer to a new hard drive which by the way is still more interesting then anything you might come up with! btw i do ignore you. until you start some stupid post or attack somebody on here for not being as good as you! now go burn your records/cd's you media mogal you! (long winded jv "im the best" rant to follow)

You can't resist. You can insult my work all you like. People like guessing which failed radio person is now jumping in. Some of my friends are enjoying this while others say not to respond to you. These posts are getting lots more hits than other boards so...here's your 15 minutes of getting the attention you crave.

You make a record, someone is going to make a comment good or bad. Again, a quote from Carmelita,
the Var catalog fetches big bucks around the U.S. and around the world. My day beats your year, to quote Lou Reed again.

and you lost the dare.

btw what "people" are guessing?? joe vig,joe viglioni,the mad faxer, ect ect. and all your personalities think im either nik or paul anyway so why should i care ?

[EDIT]

he's right on that point... the Unnatural Axe EP, which had only 500 pressed, goes for $300 or more these days.

carry on....

Not only Unnatural Axe, Sonic Al. Moe Tucker EP went for $50.00 last week to Switzerland, the 45 RPM for 35.
The Phobia single I produced is a real collector's item. and people are purchasing the Anthology albums - of which there are very few vinyl copies left - and big ticket prices. Go into the used record stores and see how cheaply you can get Brand X, Y, Z, yet Varulven discs fetch hefty prices in collector's circles.

[EDIT]

Dude Oedipus wrote the reco leter to infinity for Opie and Anthony.

=====================================================
Hey, "Dude", Oedipus is the guy who sent out the air check with the racist comment by Opie & Anthony that he says they made on WAAF. Who was that new poster who won't be hiring soon. Won't be hiring Oedipus Hyson soon.

So let's look at the logic: Oedipus screams RACISM over Opie & Anthony's comment, takes the time to dub up tapes to send to the press, yaps to the track gals about how outraged he is...then picks up O & A after they smeared Mayor Menino and harassed His Honor's family with the April Fool's death prank.

Oedipus wrote a "reco" letter to Infinity for that questionable "talent"? Marketable? Yes. Questionable? Yes!

Too bad Tom Reilly didn't write a "RICO" letter for Oedipus, Tom might be Governor had he made the move.

Also, Oedipus didn't discover Opie & Anthony - WAAF did. Anyone can offer a contract after a commodity is seen to be marketable. That doesn't take A & R skills.

Towerbuzz, Brooklyndon, BostonMusicMan, Philip J Fry, all the same guy. They all coincidentally show up at the same time.
Marvelous!

==================================================

BROOKLYNDON SAYETH FROM THE DEPTHS OF BANISHMENT:

Dude Oedipus wrote the reco leter to infinity for Opie and Anthony.

------------
Varulven Replies:

Dude, Oedipus whispered in the ears of a young band signed to my label, Unnatural Axe, and went in the studio behind my back after I produced "Hitler's Brain". I was polite enough to release the Oedipus "Production", if you want to call it that. What record is more collectible:

JV's "They Saved Hitler's Brain"
or Oedi's "The Man I Don't Want To Be"

Oedi was always copping my riffs, using his radio position to take production work away from a real producer.

I let both records go out on the label because it was obvious which one was superior. Time will tell, they say, and Hitler's Brain wins. But the point is, that was Oedipus being unethical, and he never changed. Exhibit A.

[EDIT=ad hominem comments]

Do you really think Oedipus could say no to Infinity's rollout of O&A? He had his choice, put them on afternoons or get the axe and have the local afternoon show changed anyway.

Oh wait, I can't respond to this thread.

Art thou daft, man? Thy discussion of ole records has little to do with today's music-downloading, iPod using generation. Perhaps a historical radio discussion is more your thing.

Yeah but before the rollout, when Opie and Anthony were long haired punks just fired from some po-dump station audible only outside town, WBCN's PD, who may or may not have sent along airchecks with the duo saying the N-word and likely could have had them banned from Infinity forever, wrote the letter getting them to WNEW.
::)

The first response about him having enough F you money to not have to work sounds right. Am I mistaken or was not his Dover mansion featured in Architectural Digest a few years ago?. That sorta says im not worried about working anytime soon to me.

maybe not to do with radio but certainly to do with record collecting and there are plenty of under-30 people looking for the 'original' article... in the grand scheme of things, sure, the iPod generation doesn't know about records or even CD's now... tying it into downloading, there is a LOT of file-swapping of rare, out-of-print music via Soulseek et al... YES, I KNOW IT'S ILLEGAL... much like pirate radio and I was proud to be part of a quasi-pirate station called Allston-Brighton Free Radio. Hey, did you know we ran at 30 watts at times? Now you do...

I'm not trying to start a fight. I'm just having a bit of fun and you should take it in that spirit.

Yes, I figured you guys must've been when I could get you fairly well in my apartment in Somerville. And I was thinking, they're gonna get 'em, sooner or later...
