A little 1170 KHZ help needed

Couldn't sleep. 3:15 - 3:45 AM this morning (10/2). Cincinnati OH.
Receiver was oriented for best reception from SE & NW stations.

There was a station playing 50's and early 60's R&B with a little 50's New Orleans sound thrown in. I believe I heard "this is AM 1170". Faded out on the half hour, so I missed the I.D. They did have listener endorsements between a couple of the songs.

Unless some station was up past bedtime, the only candidates I can find are Davenport IA and Montgomery AL. Neither station has a web presence.

I suppose WDEK in Lexington SC could have been up early with their critical hours power. It would fit their music format.

My local WAVS in Davie FL has a Caribbean format, with all kinds of Caribbean music, but maybe they have old time R&B as well. However they only run 250 watts ND at night. But who knows?

WWVA in Wheeling WV can get all kinds of stuff on the air at odd hours.

Usually after evening drive time, they are dollar-a-holler preachers, but I've heard music tossed into the mix from time to time.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't WWVA as I had them nulled. I think they carry Coast-To-Coast at that hour.

If you had them nulled then I'm sure you're familiar with them.

I still hear them do some odd things though with their programming. Several times when I've thought I was hearing something else, it wound up being WWVA.

I doubt it was the Montgomery station. They are doing active rock as "The Gump"

One thing you will never hear on WWVA is doo-wop and R&B. Also their night pattern steers sharply
north and east. Can barely pick them up as close in as Zanesville at night.

I am very Southeast of them and I pick them up fairly well almost every night.

As far as the type of music, I am not sure what they play all the time, but I know I've heard a mixed bag of programming as it appears they sell a fair amount of time especially after say 10-11 PM. Usually heavily religious stuff, but I did hear a segment one evening last winter playing some early 60s tunes and it was definitely WWVA that I.D'd at the TOH. I can say I haven't heard it since, there was no announcer, and it may have been filling some time where there was no programming, but given their usual across the board late-nights, I'd say anything over there is possible.

I think you heard WDEK-1170 in Lexington, SC. I am listening to 1170 right now (Sat night) in Lexington, KY. I just heard a clear ID at 10 PM EDT followed by a plug for their website streaming at 10:03 PM. Music is older, soul-type music. Their very steady signal indicates to me that they are running full-blast with their DAYTIME Power (10 kw). BTW, they are not licensed to be on at night...with any power. This must be an ongoing "problem" as I've heard them doing this before....

While driving last night in Lorain, OH I tuned to 1170 and heard WDEK very clearly. This was at midnight eastern time and I heard their ID '1170 the Deck' WDEK, Lexington. They were dominating the channel.
