A little DXing last night and this AM

Got to punching around the dial this morning and while the radio was in scan mode - I got to hear Lite Rock 105 and 93.3 FM out of Providence pretty clearly in North Andover center this AM. Also got to hear WBLM out of Maine as well before I headed into work. Last night, while sitting in a parking lot just outside of Bradford Square in Haverhill, I also picked up rather clearly WPLM out of Plymouth. To those with more tech knowledge - is this weather related?

WPLM has a strong signal. The two others probably have sticks in Ma or north of Prov. The only Maine-FM I get occaionally is 107.5

I'll give you that WPLM has a great signal - but Plymouth to Haverhill is a really good toss. As for the two PVD stations - the sticks are located in RI and again, to me, a really good toss for the signal, especially during the day. Nighttime might help as well, but that's why I was asking about the weather playing a factor.

I sometimes hear WBLM on the Mass Pike in the Westborough area, after WDRC-FM fades into the muck. Not surprised the signal makes its way into Haverhill.

None of those are unusual catches - on a good radio - in N. Andover.

Those RI stations, and certainly WPLM, can be heard up in Southern NH, and in fact, both 'PLM and 93.3 (WSNE) cause some interference to co-channel Concord, NH (area) stations almost as far north as Manchester.

100 kW WBLM comes in on northeast facing hillsides in the Boston area (when pirates aren't covering it up). N. Andover is even closer to them.

Eli's right.. i was hoping to hear about mid Atlantic FM's blasting in like they do during summer tropos. Catching Providence/Portland/Plymouth/ anywhere in Eastern MA is routine, wouldn't even call it DXing..
