A little early morning tropo (MS-AL)

A heads up for some of you along the MS/AL Gulf Coast, tropo seems to be a bit more active this early morning. From Grenada, MS (halfway between Memphis and Jackson) the coast is making its way up here quite nicely. Jackson and a few Memphis stations are like locals at the moment, as are a few selected Birmingham outlets.

Here's a quick rundown of some of the stronger stations and a few I've never snagged before:

Meridian - MPB @ 88.1, Miss 101.3, 97 OKK

Birmingham - Rock 99, Magic 96, 102.5 The Bull, WZZK, 97.7 The Peach, WJOX, 106.9 The Point, 92.9 WTUG

Mobile-Pensacola-Pascagoula - 97 WABB, TK 101, 104.9 WBUV, 104.1 Jack FM, Z 95.3, Smooth 98.3, i100, WXBM, 107.3 The Groove

Misc - WBTG 106.3 Sheffield AL, 104.5 K-Love WQJB Starkville, Wild 106 WZLD Petal MS, WLSM Louisville MS, WACR Columbus MS, WMXU Starkville, KNOE Monroe, WKXI Magee MS…

I can't even begin to decode the non comm band but suffice it to say NPR and American Family Radio were on nearly every frequency at one point or another!

A few more stragglers before I call it a night. KARN Sheridan AR (Coast to Coast AM) was booming in at one point over Miss 103. WPRT out of Nashville (Party 102.5) also seemed to be in, although I never got an ID beyond the slogan.

WRQO Monticello MS with Coast to Coast is a new one for me from home, at least.

Three more nearby but new logs: WESE Baldwyn @ 92.5, WSEL Pontotoc @ 96.7 and WFTA Fulton @ 101.9 in the Tupelo area.

WYDE-FM from Cullman/Birmingham also made a strong late showing, and I got my first (more or less) HD DX: MPB WMAE-FM out of Booneville MS. :)

Nice stuff, Zach.

Tropo was quite potent in multiple directions last night, but nothing over ~250 miles distant. Mostly just an annoyance as already weak and spotty Es that brushed FM had to get through the wall of tropo pests.

Bill Hepburn's tropo forecast (http://www.dxinfocentre.com/tropo.html) looks very good for tomorrow and Thursday, so be on the look out!
