A local off air - Invaders came calling.

The “Radio Disney” affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio is off-the-air as I post this. They are at 1260AM. Between 8pm and 8:30pm I tuned in on my car radio, in the Southwest corner of Cuyahoga County. First I heard a white preacher. He was coming in so clearly, for a minute I wondered if this was the local station choosing to sell brokered programming time on Sunday evening. I shut the radio off as I got gas. When I turned it back on, the preacher was gone and through lots of weak signal noise I heard a guy running down baseball scores. A minute or two later, the sports disappeared, and the preacher eased his way back in, but not sounding as clear as before. I now reached my destination and I was done. So, who might these two stations have been “taking advantage” of the fact that Cleveland’s 1260AM was off air?

One more note, I checked after midnight, and only heard unintelligible garble.

I'll guess WNDE (Indianapolis) for the sports station.

They get out fairly well on their 5kw night pattern which is oriented north-south. Not exactly aimed directly at Cleveland. It's not really aimed at the Chicago area where I am, either, but it's not unusual to hear WNDE around here during fades or underneath the St. Louis area Radio Disney, which normally is what's on top of 1260 nighttime at my QTH.

Religious WFJS Trenton NJ sends a good bit of its 5000 watt daytime signal northwest, John.
At night, they pull a lot of it in but there is a noticeable back lobe northwest. It might be that it was they you heard, during a power drop to 2500 watts.

Radio-Locator lists WFJS with a CP to go up to 5900 watts daytime. Perhaps they're working on that switch with on-air testing.
Unofficially, of course.

Daytime-Nightime

Thanks for the replies. During June and July, sundown is closer to 9:00pm. Therefore, stations wouldn't go to night pattern and power until closer to 9:00pm, correct? I was listening between 8:00pm and 8:30pm which would mean that they were legally on their daytime pattern and power, it seems to me.
