A Local Radio Talk Show Host Call To Arms

This is not about me....It's about us; Local Talk Radio Hosts

The Wells Report
PRESS RELEASE
CONTACT: Scott Jones; Executive Producer

Based specifically on a solution to America’s Energy Quagmire presented on The Wells Report…

Dr. Michael Burgess; Congressman TX-26th, has submitted H.R. 6125; “The Joint Defense Energy Production Act of 2008” for passage in the United States House of Representatives.

The Congressman said the bill, “…was wholly lifted from a conversation we had when I was on [The Wells Report] a month ago.”

It gives the President the authority to begin the design and construction of one petroleum refinery each for the Army, Navy, Air Force, and U.S. Marines to be built on existing military property. These refineries would provide the petroleum needs of our nation’s military, independent of the speculative volatility seen in commodities markets around the world.

“Your thought of having each branch of the military have its own ability to produce its own refined product so it doesn’t compete with the needs of Mr. & Mrs. America who are paying higher and higher prices, is a good concept” said Congressman Burgess. “The J-D Act, I call it.”

The last new refinery was built in North America in 1984; or 24 years ago. Clearly, artificially created shortages of fuel, work to the benefit of Big Oil’s status quo; ever-climbing prices unaffected by the laws of supply and demand.

“I’m not against big oil companies at all” said Wells. “I just believe it’s time to remind them that they can be competed with, by the only group big enough and with the guts enough to do it…We the People.”

Wells went on to say that the very submission of H.R. 6125; “The Joint Defense Energy Production Act of 2008” by Congressman Burgess proves once again that Local Talk Radio matters. “This solution didn’t come from a national talk show host with a network cable television show.” “It came from a regular guy on the radio asking for real solutions from his neighbors.”

The Wells Report” is heard Monday through Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Talk Radio 570 KLIF, Dallas/Ft. Worth, and on the World-Wide Web at KLIF.com

To me, this should be called “The Local Radio Talk Show Affirmation Act.” You see, I believe we do matter….We help our cities become better places….We help our neighbors understand the dangers facing our cities, our states, our nation. We do the heavy lifting of Truth, and more often than not, we do that lifting while fighting through the disadvantages of obscurity….fueled only by commitment and the satisfaction of being good citizens.

I believe this Bill should tell us that we must not just expose governmental miss-steps and misconduct, we should also put our minds on finding solutions for these issues….to benefit our neighbors.

Would you please look this bill over, and see if you can support it?

Trouble with what you're putting forth here is there are not that many "local talk show hosts" left in radio anymore. Drive across the country and go up and down the AM band. You can't tell one city from the next. Sad.

I can imagine someone like the late Jerry Williams having an absolute blast with this. Do you suppose we'll ever see his like in the biz again... :(

If US oil production increased, would it offset increasing world demand, particularly from China and India? You might need some protection for the domestic market. The military should have at least one refinery for their needs though, that makes sences.
