Kinda makes ya wonder what the dial will look like in 2018... ???

>>Kinda makes ya wonder what the dial will look like in 2018

I'll take a stab at it:

1. KAAM 770 (after relenting to the fact that 80s and 90s are REALLY oldies now, you hear Coldplay and Kool Moe D mixed with Tony Bennett and Dinah Washington.)

2. WBAP 820/96.3 (after the massive fire at the 2013 CMAs, there were no real country artists left...so 63-yr old station manager Mark Davis flips KSCS back to the old WBAP-FM, simulcasting the AM side)

3. XM/Sirius channel 9 (1990s oldies)

4. NOAA Weatheradio

5. KLLI 105.3 (now 33 years old, Gavin Spittle outlasts Kurt, David and the gang to become Cluster President [which now pays $6.75 per hour;] his persistence in keeping 58 yr-old Russ Martin on the air pays off yet again, even after Russ's 2010 murder trial and conviction. Martin broadcasts live from Huntsville daily over a wind turbine internet connection.)

6. KEOM 88.5 (50 yr-old Robert Bass buys the station for a song after major budget cutbacks by the Mesquite ISD; he's let a BIG rumor out of the bag that the station might just switch formats to 80s Pop soon, possibly in January, 2019...meanwhile, 1970 has been 48 years ago now.

7. Steve Eberhart's low-power AM station.

8. Police calls.

9. WFAA-AM/FM (Belo finally realizes the mistake it made by divesting its radio properties...and the nice engraved 1961 marble placque at the entry to Communications Center will not have to be changed after all--it still says WFAA-AM/FM.)

10. KCHP (K-Chap 96.7) (83 yr old Ron Chapman continues the tradition of Memories and Platinum by bringing in an ALL-NEW format of 60s and 70s soft oldies. 64 yr-old Cat Simon does the morning show.)

Meanwhile, HD Radio is ALL the rage, having finally caught on in 2017. Meanwhile, a programming glitch in all iPODs manufactured after 2001 renders the units worthless, as Apple forgot to implement a "Y2K"-type protective routine...and listeners are forced to return to terrestrial radio. With that news, CBS stock shoots up to a 10-year high of 23 cents, and even 97 yr-old Lowry Mays toys with the idea of buying up about 1,400 stations and rebuilding his empire.

I'm showing my age, or maybe my ears are just tired. But the radio dial would be a nicer place of KOAX or KMEZ were still around!
