according to a post on the "other" board - https://nyrmb.com/messages/447289.html - WMCA's (and WCBSFM's and WHUD's) VERY OWN Ed Baer has passed away just a few hours ago - at the age of 82....more info as I see it....
(I was privileged to have met Ed 25 years ago at Radio City Music Hall at one of Tony DeLauro's Royal New York DooWopp Shows - Ed was as classy and down-to-earth as they came - VERY friendly)
He will SORELY be missed by all of us in NY...... :(

When he retired from WHUD in 2015, they put out a press release:

Ed began in New York radio at WMCA in the fall of 1961, at age 25, the youngest member of the air staff. He remained there for 12 years, doing music, news and talk shows. Then, on to WHN, playing Country Music for 10 years, followed by 4 years at WYNY, where he also did sports on the NBC Radio Network. In 1986, he took over mornings with the Ed Baer Affair on 100.7 WHUD while also beginning fill-in stints on WCBS-FM, and often heard on their Radio Greats Weekends. After retiring from the WHUD morning show in 2000 and the start of his weekend show, “Pop Rewind,” Ed also began a four year run with Sirius Satellite Radio, where he did the morning show on the 50’s and 60’s channel, Monday through Friday, and their Country channel on weekends.

and that was back in the day when Sirius "50's on 5" actually had live jocks - which i think they kinda eliminated after Brian Carter's passing a few years ago - but that's getting off the subject...

That's right, I forgot he was on Sirius too. I was too young to remember him on WMCA, but I definitely remember the Big Bad Bear when he would sometimes fill in for Cousin Brucie and the overnight fill ins he also did at WCBS-FM back in the day. RIP, enjoy the eternal lunches in Rock-N-Roll Heaven.

I worked with Ed at WHN and he was as nice off the air as was his on the air persona. He was a real person, and a very nice guy! RIP my friend.
