Although I appreciate the attempt at pointing out how pathetic the "debate" on the ClassX thread has become, (poorly-spelled references to other small stations. I get it. Heheheheh...ahem) I wonder if this board is representative of how little there is to actually discuss with regard to radio in this community and in general.

Has radio really become so homogenized, and have we become so dispassionate about our lot in life that we can't get an intelligent discussion going on this board any more? Is there really nothing more to say about radio?

I don't know what you mean about Class X. But homogenized? Now I know that word. You mean those kind of people work at radio stations. ;) :mad: ??? :p

Love,

Anthony

Finally, someone said it.
Let's get back to talking about all of the exciting, pending, rumor, speculation, etc. about Cincinnati/Dayton/Northern Kentucky radio such as new stations, format changes, frequency changes, move-ins, etc.
My opinion is that this is no place to become too serious, judgemental or plain rude.
I use this board for entertainment and information to support my life-long hobby - terrestial radio. Hopefully, many others share the same view. If not, that's OK also. ;D

What? And take away all the fun? ;) :mad: ???

(And aren't those insipid little smiley icons enough to make anyone plain rude?)

The fodder for discussion is there. Personally I think it's more a lack of interested persons with a mature critical viewpoint capable of offering us something more than petty childish arguments, overly defensive name-calling and an endless parade of "corporate radio / Darryl Parks sucks." (And perhaps grossly written run-on-sentences too?) Those who might have something worthwhile to say tend to hold back to avoid the "gutter-leveling" of the conversation that will most certainly follow. Why bother dealing with it? I think the problem started when this thing moved to radio-info.com. It helps to see Keys2 around here, but damn it all, I miss Clemwriter.

Hear! Hear! I miss ol' Clem too....very insightful.

First a complimentary post gets sidetracked by a bunch of technical nitpicking. And now these childish posts by northsidebassetthound/KentuckyHuntingDog -- which insinuate that complimenting a small time operation means you know nothing about radio, and suggest that small time operators are nothing more than a joke.

Dusty, Jack, and company......sorry. I really enjoy WDJO and think you guys have put together a great little oldies station. But you're not corporate. Apparently like WMWX, WIOK, WOBO, and The Rebel, you're not worthy of a compliment.

Really. This is board is getting ridiculous.

That keys2 was the point I was trying to make. Enough is enough. Enough of the endless stream of "ridiculous" bashing, griping, posturing, insults, innuendo and silly sycophant delivered promotion. Isn't it time for those of us who've sat back quietly for far too long to again take a lead to direct this board back to what made it so great from the Boardhost days and before? Thank you, thank you, thank you for standing up to the foolish bull---- I wrote. But where was your cry of "childish" during that silly seven page less than canine pissing match about ClassX? Damn it keys2. This board has too much history for an elder statesman like yourself to not be more a part of it. That silly [EDIT] Sam Buca is long gone. So get more involved here once again. Please. Those of us who've been a part of this community from long before radio-info.com was a glimmer in Doug Fleming's eye need to say enough. We need to care again about the community we worked to form. Some seemed to get my point. Others didn't. I am so very sorry if you understood my comments to be a personal attack. I remember when you first became a most welcome part of this community keys2. Isn't it time to be a greater part once again. Here's to better days of intelligent discussion ahead. And now I trust we all agree that it's time to put this old hound dog down.

[EDIT=name calling]

Wow.

R.I.P. Radio-Info's sense of humor. Let's all take ourselves way too seriously in 3... 2... 1...

Maybe this board is so boring because there just aren't that many people who care about 100.3 WIFE-FM or WCVG's format flip. Seriously, scroll back 5, 10 ,15 pages. Does much jump out at you as interesting? 90 percent of topics die almost immediately.

Let's get back to the good old days when all anyone on this board ever did was bash WGRR? Those threads went on forever! Let's talk about how much we wish WGRR would still play Ernie K. Doe and The Chiffons. Who's with me.

I miss those days.

You love me. You must really love me. To be blunt, eventually you realize that you're either too old or too smart or hopefully both to waste your time playing with the whiners on some Cincinnati radio board. I knew that I didn't want anything to do with people like that in real life. Why waste my time having anything to do with them on the internet? It's only radio. And in a world where whack jobs wrap kids in blankets and duct tape and leave them to die in locked closets, I no longer have any interest in debating the good or bad of some seven second delay.

"It's only radio"

Thank you, Clem. Well put.

...now let's bash WGRR! Who's with me?

OK, Dog. Point made. Although I don't know about being referred to as "elder." ;)

Obviously you too have some history with this board, whoever you are and whatever your past handle(s) may have been. As someone else pointed out, I also miss the pre-Radio-Info days when people like Clemwriter and others engaged in intelligent postings. Quite frankly, the increasingly sophomoric tone of these Radio-Info boards reflects poorly on the radio biz and those involved in it. Like our old friend Clem said above, "I knew that I didn't want anything to do with people like that in real life." It's why I got out many years ago. There are some quality people currently in the biz. Not to be critical of these fine folks, and I still know a few. But the overall level of professionalism is certainly not what it once was. Shame. I remember when those in the communications business could actually communicate, engage in sometimes heated but always civilized debate, and use proper English. But that's for another thread.

I don't post all that often because my time is limited. Family, job/career, and community take priority. And most of the time there's just not that much interesting on which to comment. The ClassX thread was particularly disheartening though. A small time operator puts together a pretty decent sounding station. Isn't that one of the things so many here want to see? Everyone bashes corporate radio, which isn't always so bad, btw. But some "mom and pop" station comes along and the quibbling goes over the top....by both parties I might add.

And Mr. Bates, no one is taking themselves too seriously as you suggest. There are some who would simply like to see more intelligent discussion here, including what's good about radio as well as proffering constructive criticism.

One of the best post anyone has posted over the past few weeks.

I think some reasons why the boards have gotten worse;

1. When the big switch happened after Doug's death, a lot of people (like me) couldn't get logged back in for a while. For that and some other reasons, I am sure that some ex-posters just gave up at that point.

2. With the order of posts being reversed from the previous version, you don't see the latest post at the top. This might take away some of the freshness of each topic.

I don't know what this board used to be like as I've only recently found it, but, if there are some somewhat rude remarks I would blame some of that upon the helplessness that listeners might be feeling. I am not talking about the local music stations because I really never listen to them. I support local all the way though. I think national corporate radio has severed itself from the 'real' people and they seem to only get 'kooks' that can sit on hold for over an hour as callers.

There is really no place to vent, and if you send even a polite email to anyone at a Clear Channel (WLW) station it typically is not replied to. From what I have seen here, it seems rather well behaved.
