Nice set up! I've always liked that little station in Westerly. About 28 years ago, a friend of mine bought the old RA-250 (Ratheon) transmitter from WERI. They had no use for it as the Graveyarders were allowed to go 1000 watts full-time. That was a BIG transmitter. The 1000 watt transmitter they were using (can't recall the make or model) had a final tube that was running very hot (I mean, cherry red!). The FM/103.7 was still a very minimum Class B but was finally running Stereo Album Rock known as "Number 104", programmed by Clark Smidt (veteran from WBZ-FM and WCOZ).
Nice work Steve! Hope someday to visit 1230 again soon!
Sounds like the Collins 20V2 we were running @ WFOY. The modulators were the ones running cherry red tho. We had a 300G as a backup which ran flawlessly. The 20V2 tho would constantly have to have its choke cleaned because somehow corrosion would get onto it.
