A Mega meetup

With the anniversary of KLOL's switchover coming up, would anyone on this board be interested in a Mega 101 meetup celebrating the wonderful Hurban birth? We could meet at Ninfa's for happy hour.

Here is the title of the event:
"The Mega 101 meetup party: The birth of a new Hurban format that is ruling the US & the death of geezer Rock N' Roll."

We could wear shirts with the title while sipping margaritas. Anyone interested?

Count me out. I did reggatón formats 4 years ago, so lauding the copycats at a "Mexican resturant for gringos' is not very enticing.

The Mega format is neither original nor particularly well executed, as I mentioned before. It's recent performance is about half the "oh, wow" peak share it generated soon after going on the air. with a mostly teen audience, I can not see it making the kind of money that KLOL made as a rocker, either. It looks like a big mistake, all things considered. In fact, there is rumor they are considering changing it already.

That is offensive to many who like rock. Rock is not dead. Ain't gonna be in your lifetime, boy, so can the crap talk.

Sure. A lot of folks in Houston would love to meet you.
I know I would!

Speaking of which, wonder what the brass at Radio One is thinking about the future of La Mera Mera on KROI? A year after its launch it appears to have flattened in the low 1's.

I'll stick to my original prediction (of a year ago) that RO will stick with LMM through the Spring 2006 book, then make changes. Will be interesting to see if they relaunch KROI with a revised Hispanic targeted format, or whether they bail completely and go with something totally different, perhaps more in line with their traditional African-American demographics.

David,

As someone who is not in radio and enjoys hitting this board to learn something, I seriously hope that you do not get flustered with this clown and stop posting on here. This Clear Answer person is obviously someone who is probably not in radio and just enjoys getting people stirred up. I am sure you recognize that, but please don't let him get to you as I enjoy your comments and those of the others on here that are in the industry.

Nah. Troll feeding is part of the fun of message boards. And I've gotten to know them going way back to things like the original CIS newsgroups and the boards on The Well... in the days of dial-up BBS fun!

Sometimes a troll post sparks really interesting discussion. Look at the post regarding hurban/reggaetón record sales and the long term viability of the format that one person posted following a "hype post" of Clear Answer. As long as we make lemonade out of his lemons, all is well.

Hey, I'm opinionated too!
