A modest format flip proposal that would give radio a boost here in Boston

I know that some disagree with me in the sense that WAAF is getting stale. With the constant talk of WRKO and entercom wanting to make a few flips here and there (it happened with 'EEI) I propose the following:

1. 97.7. Become WRKO FM (Not a strong signal but sill doable)

2. Make 107.3 a multi-cultural station. A multi-lingual, multi-cultural station that plays the best putamayo world music and even some shows that are in other languages.

WAAF is indeed getting stale. WKAF should bring back WBOT and WAAF could be WRKO FM.

That would give a black eye to WTKK & WXKS-AM.

With what WBOS is doing, I can't imagine anyone listening to WAAF.

WAAF sounds like crap, but it makes $$$, so I'm gonna say no to losing BOTH frequencies. Maybe flip one to RKO, but AAF is here to stay as long as it's profitable.

I think WAAF sounds great and doesn't get anywhere near the credit they deserve. Fantastic personalities, the best production ANYWHERE in New England, and the smart mix of older rock with new rock. It makes money, it has heritage, and the listeners are loyal. WAAF is one of the few rock stations that still make it work.

They're not going anywhere, and I think WAAF deserves a lot more credit than they do.

It does make money and I doubt they'd do it. If they had another FM freq to put WRKO on,
they could do that but I doubt they'd flip WAAF.

How WAAF can be making any money, as wretched as it sounds, is beyond my comprehension. But, one can never accuse the general public of having good taste. Anyway, I've seen their ratings, and they're not great. I think they would be higher if they switched to strictly classic rock and competed with WZLX. Mixing in today's wussified, watered-down rock (an opinion I'm hardly alone in) with the '90s 'alternative' and classic rock just sounds terrible. Go all classic rock and get rid of that lunkhead morning show, or throw in the towel.
