A Modest Proposal

I thought you might. A quick check of the "News/Talk" board shows "bayoubob" threw a piece of red meat to the Piranhas with a scintillating observation about Fox News.

I don't really see how my disdain for it stifles discussion. Go for it.
______________

Rule #3

As long as rules are being mentioned by number in this thread, here's the #3 item that's not permitted:

Any copyrighted data. This includes articles from most newspapers, trade publications, and Arbitron ratings (including 12+ ratings).

I've seen a lot of reposted articles. Haven't the moderators noticed?

Responding to gibberish

First off, how long ago was this thread you're referring to? Beginning of the Summer?

We moderators are people just like you.. We do have to adhere to the same rules, however, and if you'll go back to those old threads you'll realize I was only commenting in the context of Air America Radio's performance both at WKOX/WXKS-AM in the Boston area, and the abysmal performance of the AAR feed in Memphis at WWTQ 680 - where, by the way, the station performed so badly that it dropped completely off the Arbitron list!

With regards to your comment that I, or Les, or any other moderator is part of the 'problem', I say what a rediculous crock of $#@!. One comment about how AAR isn't cutting it in the ratings and the leftist mafia on the board go nuts! That's why I don't participate anymore other than moderate because some of you come unglued because your precious leftist views get stepped on - to which I say lighten up! I never called anyone names and only pointed out that some of the left's best and brightest apparently aren't being listened to, at least not by those who fill out diaries.

Anyway, it's nice to see I'm loved, as I almost never have the time to read this board and find my name taken in vain. As for Les, I'll let him speak for himself, if he chooses to respond.

> At some point, it may have to be decided that neutrality is

I disagree. This is a forum that all can participate in. Just because we moderate doesn't mean we can't participate. This isn't news, nor am I a judge. We moderators are merely enforcers of R-I rules, keeping the peace so we can have a professional discussion. But we also have our own opinions about radio, if we didn't we wouldn't be here in the first place. Neutrality as you're suggesting would be like a store owner not being able to purchase items from his own business.

For my part, as I said, I've pretty much backed out of discussing controvercial issues on the Boston board, because some of the most vocal of you can't take the heat, so to speak. Problem is, it's dangerous, apparently, to suggest anything conservative to rabid liberals in New England... although those of us from Central/Western Mass aren't nearly as left of center as some of you might think.

Good heavens, what are you wanting? If people would simply discuss things and not shout we'd have no problem. We used to be a lot less forgiving about allowing political talk, but when R-I was young, there was a lot less discussion about talk radio than there is now, and politics is nearly all there is on talk radio. Again, if people would simply discuss things like adults and not like whiny crybabies who don't get their way, we'd have no problems at all.

So ya want me fired? (cue the laughter)
Frankly, I wasn't going to respond at all to this but I do find it enormously funny that when people aren't allowed to scream because they read something that eats them up, they want someone's head on a platter. All we ask is for civility. Everyone has a right to his or her own opinion, just not a shouting match. I haven't expressed my political views (and you don't even know what they are, do you?) in a very long time. So, I'm kinda wondering just who this is who got so torked off at me as to suggest that I should have my status reviewed. I guess you don't remember back in '01 when we had to close the Boston board FOUR times before I came onboard and began to moderate, and shut down the morons who decided to threaten others and Radio-Info. Interesting...

I don't think the left is evil. We need the left, just not in charge of a whole lot. We just need balance, and balance with the left means having more conservatives in power than leftists. But they aren't evil, they keep the right from comitting excesses of their own.

There shouldn't be a battle at all... and in fact, my uninformed friend, I forsee a time when many of these issues you're whining about will no longer be issues. But, never fear, barring some sort of disaster, I'm not going anywhere.

Enjoy the day!
______________
