I keep hearing a 106.5 right next to "Casa". In the mornings, it is all KOOI, Sunny 106.5. But in the afternoons, I get Spanish language either talk or music. I usually don't like Spanish language music, but their stuff is pretty good. It is consistant - but the only listings here are Lubbock, Galveston, and Kansas. Anybody know what this is? Anybody else hear it? It is really strong on these hot afternoons.

Oh - for the Ranch fans - 106.9 barely comes in at all on the other side of CASA.

Its in a foreign language, but I'll try to see if they do an ID at the top of the hour. Maybe somebody that actually speaks Spanish could understand the announcements.

yeah another language is hard to understand...but usually its still easy to pick up spots or jingles between songs. The pirate i found in Irving was playing religious spanish, and they had no sweepers, jingles, etc, just sounded like Windows Media Player with a bunch of mp3s slammed together. Definate breaks between songs. If this thing is legit, then I'm not quite as interested *grin*

What part of the metroplex are you hearing it? Major freeway intersection?
______________

I heard it last night on IH-30 near Fate, between rockwall and greenville. Looking at recnet, I bet it might be the new class D out of g'ville... who knows.
Edited by julesism on 08/27/05 01:32 AM.

There is always a good possibility that it may be the 106.5 in the Houston-Galveston area. They're up about 1200 feet or so with a full 100KW...and near the (salt) water which may be giving them a little "bounce."

See if they refer to themselves as K-Love or refer to advertisers Gallery Furniture or Landmark Chevrolet.

I think you are right - I looked up their web site and they are K-Love Spanish, sure enough I heard words like "hey-sus" (Jesus phonetically in Spanish), and a Spanish version of Focus on the Family. They have a really good signal all the way up 75 from the high-5, but I got splatter from Casa when they did their legal ID. The farther North I went, the better they came in, almost no splatter at Legacy and 75, and clear all the way down Legacy.

I am really sold on this narrow ceramic filter trick! Driving around Dallas listening to Houston stations - remarkable. I wish that many of the Houston stations weren't on the same frequency as Dallas.

Yeah and as Sir Nigel points out, the 97.5 you're hearing IS a legit station now... unless you're not hearing the one in Irving/S. Dallas. I can't remember off the top of my head what the freq was for the one I found in Irving... I'd have to go back thru the message archives here. It ended up being at a church not far from downtown Irving. Yes it could easily be heard from Irving Mall.
______________

The station in Irving was on 92.9.

I think you may be confusing KOVE's format (called K-LOVE) with the religious network of the same name....they are NOT affiliated with the religious K-LOVE network but KOVE's format is a romantica format...hence the LOVE.

Ahh yes that was it. I'm getting senile in my old age *grin*

Your mystery 97.5 is another CSN translator for 90.3 in Decatur. It doesn't hurt KLAK too bad north of the George Bush turnpike.
