A Need I Have

The issues are now being fixed. Once fixed, the big broadcast Computer will continued to be used for that and the smaller one, I just got, will be for the streaming. The big one had a bad hard drive and the engineer is working on replacing it. Hope to be back on by the end of this week. Stay tuned.

Dan <><

P.S. Once I get the radio broadcast going again, then we'll start streaming.

Glad to see things are progressing toward a resolution, but really hope that there's some contingency planning done for 2023 to mitigate these sorts of issues in years to follow.

The issue has been fixed and now back on. Streaming is coming next month, once the engineer sets everything up.

Dan <><

P.S. For those wondering, the hard drive had errors in it and the engineer was able to remove them. Still going to get me a backup Computer, just in case something like this happens again. I'm not going to be caught with my paints down again.

And Yes...Dan is going to save all the contents on a external hard drive too. When the engineer is able, he's going to help me reload the one I have and we're going to back up everything I have now.

Tell Dan good luck.

Dan,
I pray that everything goes well with the new equipment and that God will continue to bless your efforts. Also I'm looking forward to hear you streaming. Merry CHRISTmas!!! :)

Starting this Saturday, if things line up right, the stream is officially premiering. I'm also working on adding a new program to the mix, as well. Hope to premier it next Sunday, starting at 10:30 A.M. and air it everyday for 30 minutes. It's going to be called A Moment From The Word, with my Church Pastor, Dr. Mike Perry from New Covenant Presbyterian Church here in Selma Alabama. Once we get the stream and program going, then I'm going to finally do a Facebook page. And yes...I'm very excited over these blessings. Also excited because in February we start 7 years of broadcasting. Man God has been good to me. I'm still thanking Him for all He has done and will be doing for Jesus Radio Selma.

The streaming side is once again and new program delayed. Due to a new Transmitter issue, that I'm going to fix for good, the stream and new program will have to wait. Breakdowns are no fun to have. Want to get this one behind me. Hope that when I do, I can pursue my future dreams and plans for this broadcast. Thanks to all for your continued Prayers, support and responses to me. I appreciate it. :)

Dan <><

P.S. For those wondering, the transmitter recently was dropping power and I sent it back to the company for repairs. Thought they had it fixed but today the issue started back up. I'm going to see about replacing this unit and making sure the replacement has no defects in it at all.

Don't forget, if you're off the air longer than ten days, you'll need to file for an STA.

Thanks for the reminder. Anyway, the engineer is going to bring another one and see if the issue is outside of the transmitter. If it isn't, then I'm going to use the loaned one, while the other is in the repair shop. I won't be off the air per se, unless absolutely necessary. I hope we can get this issue behind me for good. This transmitter is around a year old and I shouldn't be having issues with it this soon.

B.T.W. I hope that when the rain stops here, the power will go back up on the transmitter itself. It could be water in the line but then again an antenna issue. I'm going to keep a check on things and see what I can discover on my own.

Modern transmitters should go about 10 years without trouble. After that the power supply can go bad. What model and make do you have?

Once my Rottweiler chewed up my coax and I had to replace it. I put a fence around the tower after that.

I have the latest one from Nicom. It's a LPFM type. This unit isn't over a year old and already has experienced two breakdowns. Because of this current issue, my engineer told me to shut down. I just went off the air. Hope to be back on, by the end of the week with a loner from him.

P.S. Due to this breakdown, I'm still going to have wait on starting the stream and adding a new program. Sorry about that.

Here's a pic of the one that I use:

No offense intended, but those things are junk right out of the box.

Thank you for sharing that. I appreciate it. May end up buying from another company, if we can't get this issue resolved.

@R.D.P. as myself and others have mentioned previously, once you get the transmitter working and your computers online, you should also really consider upgrading the computers. While they'll get you by for now, the issue is that, as others explained, the computers you're using for content haven't been made in many years. That means they're going to become more and more unreliable, even if you purchase "reconditioned" ones, and you're eventually going to be completely out of luck if one fails on you again and you try and replace it with the same model, as they simply won't be available anymore at some point. A decade out of print is a lifetime when it comes to computers and technology.

I came across the article below about your station, the interview they did with you and it seems you're affiliated with a church. Perhaps that church may believe in your station and streaming service enough to take up a collection or help raise money to assist you financially with the upgrades. Posting your needs on a site like GoFundMe may also help, as there are a lot of "believers" out there who may be willing to donate to your cause, since your station is helping to spread the Word.

I intend to get all these issues behind me, for good, during this year. I'll see if the Church itself, wants to help me upgrade the Computers but since we're so small and have few members, they may not be able to do it. Will ask and see if they're interested. Thanks for the advice. I'll see if I can run with it.
