A New Beginning

Theres so many DJ "s out there who should have followed Johns way of doing radio ! Theres always a DJ who really stands out, who is one who makes you want to listen! John Mack Flanagan came from Roswell New Mexico, and he made it Big here in this market ,and even though hes not in radio now ,If I had a radio station John Mack Flanagan would be the CEO of the station and call all the shots!! I would like to see him get into radio , with the REAL CHRIS EDWARDS not that fake on KYA! And Celeste Perry middays, And Mucho Morales !! This guy was at KFRC in 1977 and Mucho Morales was alot like John, he keeps you listening!! And one other great DJ was "BIG TOM PARKER" from KFRC and KYUU 99.7 !! Where is Big Tom Parker now?? It would be great to have a Radio Reunion with these Bay Area Legends!! Im sure these DJ s would like to be heard again , Im hoping some Bay Area Station gets a oldies format going and Blows 99.7 off the Dial!! These days its hard to find Talent , Here is a small sample of what radio was ,and still should be !!!! Kenny in Concord waiting for that day!!

Kenny in Concord! You'll like this one: I worked most of the 1990's with Bob Hamilton. Great Guy! High Strung. (Of course I am too!) Lot's of slamming doors! "Shut the F**K up!" That kind of thing, but I liked Bob and worked for him at KSFO/KYA, KFRC-FM (99.7), KYA-FM, and KBIG 98.1 (My wife's favorite station!) Bob had this idea I should cut recorded tracks 2-6 in the morning, well people had a fit! How dare he work you afternoons and make you come back in the middle of the night! Shame on him! One of the board operators was Bonnie, Paula Kelly's Daughter. One morning someone called and had to speak to me urgently. Bonnie explained I was not available (without blowing my cover...) "Well, I've got to talk to John!!!" At about that time I gave directions for the next cut, "Bonnie, this is the intro to Crystal Blue Persuasion (how many times did I play that one?!?) the person heard me, and said "I know he's there! Put him on!" Then Bonnie had to let the cat out of the bag, they were recorded tracks. Sure wrecked that persons day! -John-

J.Mack! What an honor to see your typed thoughts on this cool site... As a midwest boy, one generation behind the best of Top-40, I remember traveling to the Bay and hearing you and KFRC for the first time... I would have friends and relatives from Cal send me cassettes of unscoped '610' and I remember always scarfing air-checks from American Air-Chexx and Programmer's Digest to hear the great happenings on '610'... All from the city of John Mack Flanagan!!!
