A NEW ERA AT 93.3 KDKB

I've been meaning to post this for awhile, but if y'all haven't checked us out lately, please do so! New PD, morning show, afternoons, nights, and even some new weekenders. New sound, new look, new ATTITUDE!!!!
Come rock AND have some fun with us!!!

NOPE! Sludge sounds annoying to me!
And the chick on the weekend needs to lay off the smokes...she sounds like the Cryptkeeper! I want to head on over to Javelina and force her to cough! YUCK!!!

Ruby is great...but you guys got a long way to go before you think it's a new era! Sorry! :)

HONEST opinions are certainly welcome!!! Just all haters and disgruntled out-of-work radio trolls stay away please!!!

disgruntled out of work radio trolls,,,,,,does that might disqualify most people on this board, no ?

I found Sludge interesting and different, not quite the typical formula radio guy, that's nice. I like Ruby too, by the way. KDKB's numbers continue to hover where they've been for years, and people like to poke fun of that on this board, but they continue to be a well run, well marketed radio station.

I am not sure that it's a new era either, but it seems to be working.

You mean new era AGAIN? How many non-changes can you make and continue to sound the same? IMHO KDKB is sounds like KUPD again and like someone said, the numbers are the same. Eventually it will start to sounds like K-Slacks then Mix then KUPD again and the cycle continues. What old is the same again around there. Ruby is the only thing consistent on KDKB and always will be and she is the only one who always wins. Mike I'm sure you a nice guy but you need some personality in your show. Liners aren't going to get you ratings. Take a hint from Paul and Ruby. Paul and Ruby are personality and what that station has always been about. Me thinks less time on the radio-info board and more time on show content may be a good idea.

I've always viewed KDKB as the mid-point between KUPD and KSLX--meaning that KDKB isn't as personality driven as KUPD but their personalities don't sound like a notch above a zombie like KSLX. Same goes for the music... not as hard/active rock as KUPD and not as dinosaur rock as KSLX. KDKB in the 80s was fantastic, right along with KZZP, it was my favorite station growing up. I have nothing against KDKB at all, but as has been stated already... how many times can a station perform stunting and then not change anything? Of course, KDKB can afford to tweak and experiment as there really isn't any competition in the rock genre in this market (given that all three major rockers are owned by Sandusky).

I haven't lived in Phoenix in 25 years but considering the (albeit long ago) history of progressive/adult alternative radio there such as KSTM, K104, of course the original KDKB, KCAC and before that (very briefly) KNIX(!)-is there not a market for adult alternative? Seems to work well in Tucson..for what it's worth...right?

I can't speak much to the mid-day since I am at work, but...

I don't find Sludge very interesting. If Holmberg wasn't around, he might grab some of my attention, but for the demographic he seems to target, Holmberg is going to get them all and is far better. It's a no-win scenario for Sludge.

I've heard Neanderpaul before, back when I lived in Boston, and he does a decent show now as he did then. What sets him apart from Fitz at KUPD is that he actually talks about music rather than hammering away at the funny personality approach. It's a good change many days. But not all days. He's rather encyclopedic, which is sometimes compelling and sometimes a bit much.

I like you Paul.. and I don't even live in Phoenix anymore! But I catch you online! Encyclopedic... hmmm interesting word! I think that is a backhanded compliment which means you know your music!!!

and LOL at the person who said if all the former radio peeps would stay off this board, there would be nobody on it! in most cases, so true.. so true

To "MyMHz", thanks!
To "ThePasswordIs", interesting critique---thanks for listening!
To "BoredModerator", I unfortunately have not been in touch with JR, but he was always cool to me and I wish him the best!

New Era...yes, I still think so; this is especially true if you work here. It's actually fun again, not all "sterile" n sh*t. AND a new signal, how 'bout that??? Little by little, y'all will see....

THAT'S a good question...we have a "Four-Play Weekend" starting at 5p tomorrow and running 'til 10p on Sun...I'll have to ask Paul, or just call him tomorrow....

KDKB.......................................Rocks Arizona ! (insert space fx here) lol
Station sounds great ! NP & staff- Keep up the good work !

We will not be playing Alice's Restaurant.

However we do have a link on our webage for you to listen at any time. The keyword is; ALICE.

Enjoy! Thanks for listening!

By the way, the new audio processing on 93.3 sounds great - no more metallic aftertaste!

K-Slacks 100.7 will be playing Alice at 8:30 AM, noon, 4:30 and 8:30 PM
(so sez their website).

And I suppose Lumberyard 1440 will be playing Kookie and Frank as usual. ;)
