A new hybrid AC format with "a secret sauce?"

Preface Note - A new hybrid AC format with "a secret sauce?"

Sounds like a pretty wide array of musical selection "from Bob Marley to The Beach Boys, from U2 to the Doobie Brothers, from Jimmy Wayne to Randy Travis and from Steve Miller to Eric Clapton." With plans for additional expansion formats of Oldies and Country in the next two years as well.

I'm interested to hear what it will sound like.

My only question is, is the AC market pretty well saturated already? Does the AC market have room for another hybrid format?

What do other people think?

And no, I have no connection to the company.

Allouez-based Sovereign City hopes to meet listeners' needs

Company has 'secret sauce' that will fill void in radio, Giganti says

Green Bay Press-Gazette

... Q. The portion of Sovereign City of which you lead has developed a radio format that will soon be marketed to stations nationwide. What can you tell us about the format?

A. Our first major product rollout for Sovereign City is a new hybrid adult contemporary format that will go into beta testing locally in January 2008 and will be unveiled in national syndication on April 2. While we are keeping most details close to the vest until our launch, I can tell you that the format will "re-introduce" listeners to songs they've heard many times before, but never known quite in the same way. The format is also designed to bring back a little bit of that old-time radio feel that features engaging and entertaining personalities that add to the listener's experience, rather than regurgitating standard liners, and comes complete with an extensive playlist that will feature everything from Bob Marley to The Beach Boys, from U2 to the Doobie Brothers, from Jimmy Wayne to Randy Travis and from Steve Miller to Eric Clapton. But there is a certain "secret sauce" that ties it all together that we believe will fill an audience need that is otherwise being ignored right now.

The format will be delivered to radio stations via satellite and will be available as a 24/7 format, or stations will have the option to take a particular day-part based on their needs. ...

I came to this BB to post a question as to whether anyone had listened to the Oasis and what did they think, via the link that is showing up at various places on this website. This is the format the orig poster is talking about. I listened to the stream for a while and thought they were playing an awful lot of unhip 70's music for a station targeting 25-54. I.e. England Dan/JF Coley "Really Love To See You Tonight".

perhaps they are playing the "new" remixes of songs a la Michael Jackson's new version of THRILLER, Dame Shirley Bassey's re-mixes of her famous songs (including a more obscure James Bond title she did, not Goldfinger or Diamonds are Forever, I forget), Diana Ross's new "Missing You" or the Marilyn Monroe dance mixes...not that Marilyn is going to get any FM airplay, though she should...many people know the songs. Just guessing if this is their "secret sauce"

AllAccess.com is reporting:
* Other Oasis dayparts are preparing for launch.
* Another format mixed with "secret sauce" identified for development in coming months.
* At least seven formats would work well with the style of programming they are developing in coming years.

Sovereign City Ups Joel Dearing And Rob Moore

"Now that her show and the Oasis format are off and running, we've asked JOEL to begin sampling how our ‘secret sauce’ tastes when mixed with another key format that we've identified for development in the coming months."

"ROB’s experience and expertise has made a tremendous and very positive impact on our programming efforts as we move forward with WENDY’s show and other dayparts we are preparing for launch," GIGANTI stated.

"We have identified at least seven formats that we believe would fit well within the caliber and style of programming we are developing," "GIGANTI added. "We look forward to the adventure of bringing these products from concept to fruition in the next few years."

Sovereign City adds morning show for Oasis

29 July, 2008 10:33:00

Sovereign City Communications announced the launch of its new morning show — Your Morning with Jim & Debbie — into its beta testing period in preparation for national launch. Like its nocturnal counterpart, Wendy in Your Oasis. Show hosts Debbie Montgomery and Jim Harrington will also take a light-hearted look at pop culture from the perspective of two seasoned radio pros.

“Putting a morning show together with the collective talent and experience the caliber of Jim and Debbie is a sure-fire formula for success,” says Joseph R. Giganti, president and COO of Sovereign City. “Consistent with all we are developing with Oasis, Jim and Debbie’s show will help energize our listeners’ day and will undoubtedly take our concept of the power of positive programming to the next level.” ...
