A New News-Talk Resource

There have been several folks asking for names of various news-talk resources. A new morning sports service is being launched by Atlanta's Tony Schiavone and my boss, Nick Roberts wrote a letter on his behalf:

"For those who are not familiar with Tony, yes...he was the lead announcer in the WCW wrestling organization during its' glory years and also worked for the old WWF prior to that. He is a household name in the wrestling world.

However, what you might not know about Tony is: his real passion and love is mainstream sports. He breathes baseball, football, basketball, anything sports related. Currently, he is Sports Director at Cox's flagship Newstalk WSB in Atlanta.

We were looking for a different voice to handle morning sports on WHIO AM-FM in Dayton. I thought of Tony.

It's been one of the best investments in our morning show that I've ever made. He sounds like he's coming from our market. His sports reports sound major market, plus have the name of a big person in the sports entertainment world. Tony is incredibly easy to work with. He is a unique and special talent. The "localness" he brings to his reports produces phone calls to me every week from listeners and fans who want to meet Tony and think he's actually here in Dayton.

Tony is one of the hardest working individuals in radio. The guy does a daily talk show, anchors sports on WSB in mornings, records sportscasts for other stations and even has time to cover Georgia football on the weekends. He's even phoned in special reports for us...when he's been at major sports events. He's gone above and beyond what any normal "syndicator" would do .

Tony also loves radio. He started in radio and has a passion to stay on the radio side of the business. This is huge, considering it's coming from someone who had decades of being a huge TV personality.

If you're looking for someone who can add depth, credibility, passion, talent, plus a name your listeners will recognize to your morning show - Tony's your guy. Talk to him for 5 minutes and you'll be sold on what he can do for you. The guy gets it.

I am proud to call Tony a friend.

His new company is: http://blinddogsports.com/index.php.
