“A Night for Jan’ benefit for Jan Dean
Tulsa Ok: ‘A Night for Jan’ is a charity benefit for Jan Dean to be held at the Cain’s Ballroom April 26 and hosted by all Tulsa area radio stations. Jan, a local radio celebrity for over 28 years was diagnosed with Brain Stem Glioblastoma in July 2006.
Glioblastoma is an extremely aggressive form of brain cancer. Unfortunately, it is the most common form of brain tumor in adults, accounting for 67% of all astrocytomas.
Jan began her career on air in 1979 at KWEN as a weekend and overnight DJ. She later moved to K107 were she hosted ‘Bed Check’, a show that quickly became Tulsa’s top rated night time show for several years. She spent the majority of her career at Shamrock communications home to ‘THE Edge’ and KTSO. There she served in several capacities including air talent, program director, operations manager and general manager. She is currently employed by Clear Channel Radio as the NTR manager.
‘A Night for Jan’ will be a night that all area radio stations pull together for one of their own. Local bands Radio Radio and Band Camp will play. Each radio station will bring an item to be raffled. Raffle tickets and cover charge will $5. 100% of the proceeds will go to Jan Dean Cancer Fund. Items for raffle include an autographed Chris Daughtry guitar, NASCAR tickets, trips and other radio station type prizes.
Participating radio stations: KRAV, KJSR, KMOD, KQLL, KVOO, KMYZ, KTSO, KIZS, KTBT, KHTT, KBEZ, KWEN, KTBZ, KAKC, KJMM, KFAQ, KRMG, KXBL, KKCM, KGTO
“Radio is a very competitive industry. This event truly speaks to the type of person Jan Dean is and the contribution she has made to this industry and community for so many years. It’s very unusual to get EVERY radio station in Tulsa to join together for project. This is a big deal and a great cause. It will be an unforgettable night.” said Michael Oppenheimer, General Manager of Clear Channel Radio, Tulsa.
