A noteworthy day for Pittsburgh TV

WINP has gone to a four-channel service, with ION at 16.2, Qubo 16.3 and ION Life 16.4, while ShopNBC remains at 16.1. (I would have arranged the channels a bit differently, unless WINP has some sort of contract to continue doing ShopNBC on its primary channel.)

Coincidentally, of course, we had WPXI-11.2 flip from Retro TV to ME-TV. Much as I liked Retro, I enjoyed seeing ME-TV's choices.

RTV still going as of 3AM.
BTW, the reason you saw different shows and times on Tuesday was not due to the new ME TV, they were just getting the RTV feed off from a different location than usual. Each affiliate can choose their own shows and times.

But after seeing the ME-TV lineup on their website, the shows look like they will be pretty decent as well;
http://www.metvnetwork.com

But it would be nice if someone else locally picks up RTV again!

As of 5:30 Am out here in the south hills we are still receiving the full RTV program line up, including a early morning Burger Express infomercial. So far as of 5:30 Am the only Me-TV programming that i see is the the program guide at the bottom of the screen showing the program Raw Hide. I'm not sure when Verizon will make the switch out here in the south hills. I also noticed that on the Me-TV site that they have posted the Verizon Me-TV channel as 465 and not 462, I'm not sure if its a typo or Verizon is going to switch over to 465? Also down the road it would be nice if WINP would pick up RTV? Both Me-TV and RTV in the same market would be nice, a good variety to choose from. Cheers !

Retro was on past midnight Sunday night (Ellery Queen was followed by Night Gallery). I first started to monitor ME-TV at 9 a.m. Monday. OTA I received ME-TV's programming. Is WPXI giving a direct feed rather than an off-air feed to systems that hasn't been switched? As of last night, my Comcast feed still listed "Retro" as the channel but was showing ME-TV.

I also had forgotten what ION runs outside of primetime on its primary service: A lot of infomercials.

Also, is there a problem with WBGN right now? I haven't seen it OTA in several days. I know it's RF 16 (while WINP is virtual 16) but a switch in programming and expansion of Virtual 16/RF 38 should not have affected RF 16. Just wondering.

It is my understanding that Retro TV is now being shown on a WBGN subchannel and that is what is being shown on FIOS channel 462. Supposedly FIOS will add the ME TV channel at 465 sometime later this week

their primary owner, I believe, is Bud Paxson, who founded the Home Shopping Network.

RTV is also still available on the WTOV subchannel if you are located towards the west end of town.

One advantage of ME-TV over RTV is that it is all classic programming....no infomercial blocks in the
overnight hours.

You might be right. We have Verizon which still has RTV on 462, so I disconnected it and hooked up a converter box, and sure enough, 11.2 is ME TV.

I can't seem to get WBGN anywhere on OTA, so not sure if they are feeding RTV or someone else.
After viewing the latest piece on PXIs website, they do say ME TV WILL be on Verizon 465, so you are correct

So we get Peter Gunn AND Sgt Bilko??

F'in awesome. ;D

Well, jmareino was right. As of this morning, on the Verizon system, 462 says WBGN RTV, so it looks like we may be getting our wish of obtaining the new ME TV later this week and keeping RTV as well in the burgh!

Looks like many of the original shows are going to still be on, only at different times now. No more Quincy, but looks like we won't be getting Cannon or Streets of San Francisco like we thought.
