A PASSING

Former WIBG and WCAU news anchor for the 1970s Mary Margaret Myers passed away. A memorial service is scheduled Saturday in Pawling, NY.

She was on duty for ABC Radio News the night John Lennon was killed in 1980, and her long form report has been a keepsake in my archives.

Long before the Katie Courics and Connie Chungs, Mary, on talent alone, blazed the trail for women in broadcast journalism. They all stand on her shoulders.

Re: Mary Margaret Myers

MMM...

You and Ken and Bob, encouraged me in this business when I was no one. (Like I'm someone now). :),

and I think I thank you... :)

I remember how good I felt when I heard you on ABC radio.

Proud to have known you.
