A penny is valuable

nd2023

Banned
It can buy a share of Mega Media, the owners of Pulse 87, and it can only go up (if it goes down, New York loses its dance station). It's a better gamble than Atlantic City.

WOW! I thought you were joking about a penny! But looking at the latest reports....yep a PENNY! ($0.01). To which six months ago, around the time Pulse launched, the stock was about .18 a share.

Everyone in the market is getting whacked. I haven't checked my 401k before this but if the average is any indication, I must've lost at least 30 percent of my funds. :-[

Scary time folks!

The real fact here, kids: Dance music is not valuable.

And it's the non-believers that spur me to fight even more. The only way I'm getting stopped is the day I die. :)

Upon thinking about it...there IS more that I have to say.

1. The events held by Pulse 87 (Plumm - Monday with Star & Buc Wild and Columbus72 with Jewelz & DJ Serg) have been seeing an increase in attendance! How do I know this? Because I have been attending them and have witnessed this first hand! The crowds are out there dancing and just loving the music and atmosphere. If the music wasn't valuable, would you have HUGE turnouts like this?

2. Yes, Pulse does NOT have a strong signal. Yes, Pulse doesn't have an advertising campaign....it's been basically the dance music fans going "word of mouth" on this. I could GUARANTEE that if Pulse had a signal similar to everyone above 92, had an ad campaign that would find Pulse 87 all over the subways, highways, maybe TV ads, etc. along with Arbitron giving the station equal treatment on the PPM's as if it was a true radio station, Pulse would be somewhere in the TOP 5! (yep I've said it!)

BTW, often enough I refer members to that Philly thread I did a while back ago. They HAVE to see the "hate" because it does exist. So there IS a purpose on that thread and it has caused many to want to join and "fight" alongside! And thanks for pointing that thread out on the other boards! ;)

Heck...if Steve Dahl wants me on his radio show (for those not in the know...the catalyst behind the "Disco Sucks" movement of the 1970s at Comiskey Park/Chicago), I'll be MORE than happy to attend!

What I find amazing is how the "corporate" mentality is too stubborn to make a change or when they think they did a change, it still fails1 As a medium radio is dying and "corporate" doesn't want to do anything new to pick themselves up. "Jack", "Bob", "Pete", "Penelope"......that isn't doing a darn thing! At least with the dance format, people that are lucky enough to get a signal on Pulse 87 are tuning in....the same people displaced by a 'KTU and/or radio as a whole. It's the smaller companies that realize that you have to be "different" to do something to catch an audience.

You probably have a LARGER fanbase of country music fans here in NYC than dance but nothing is being done to bring about a format to SD. No one is going to give a crap about HD. But yeah bring about ANOTHER rock station that the market didn't need and let's enjoy the crappy ratings it has received from bailing out of a smooth jazz format that while may not have garnered big ratings, certainly did a lot more than what is being given now on 101.9. Of course things are only going to get worse as the economy continues to go on a downward roller coaster.

I'm still going to do whatever I can for dance music. You don't have to agree with it but at the very least respect it.

How many of you actually own shares of MMDA? It's still 1 cent, so if you find any pennies on the ground, you know what to do...

Right now you can buy 5000 shares for $35. ;D Commission on Fidelity $10.95. :) Frequency for sale 87.7. ::)

Found this on Yahoo!
"On October 7, 2008, Mega Media Group, Inc. ("we", "us" or the "Company") and our CEO Aleksandr Shvarts (collectively, the "Defendants") were served with a summons and complaint filed by AJW Partners, LLC, AJW Offshore, Ltd., AJW Qualified Partners, LLC, and New Millennium Capital Partners II, LLC (collectively, the "Plaintiffs"). Pulse may or may not be struggling, but MMDA is more than just Pulse 87, so I wouldn't judge their performance solely based on Pulse. But then again, it seems like it doesn't take much for the naysayers to come out of the woodwork.

According to Wikipedia, Mega Media leases 87.7 from Island Broadcasting, which actually owns the licenses for WNYZ and several other LPTV stations. So if Mega Media goes broke, 87.7 will have another (boring) format.
