A Pirate In Sacramento?

I was scanning the dial and noticed a station transmitting off frequency. At 98.0, not 98.1. processing is good, they have professional imaging...all in spanish. They are flat up against another station at 97.7 that bleeds to 97.9. There signal almost completely nods out at 98.1.

Are you sure you're not listening to KLMG "Mega 97.9"? It's a new Spanish language CHR in Sacramento..Transmitter Northeast of Woodland and COL in Esparto. The station used to be KeBuena, whose format and KTTA calls moved to Jackson's 94.3 a couple of weeks ago.

If you are in Eastern Sacramento County, you may be receiving a low powered station at 97.7 called KDEE-LP. If you're in Southern Sacramento County, you may be receiving KWIN at 97.7.

Of course, 97.7 KHHZ out of the Chico area also comes through in a few places in the "North Area"

Tt could be, but I'm monitoring off a SW radio with a fairly precise LED readout, and the frequency shows 98.0 stereo generator. Not 98.1 or 97.9. KDEE is at 97.7 and will splash at 97.9. But this station will barely go into it's sidebands.

This may not be a pirate, but they are off frequency. I checked my car radio which I tuned to 97.9, and it's hashy, but I'm sure on the west side of Sac. it's better reception. Obviously on a basic car or home radio, you can't tune to 98.0 which comes in perfectly on my SW radio. And on 98.1 on my car radio...it drops completely out. But it is off frequency when the signal chart comes in perfectly on 98.0. And drops at 97.9. and it's in spanish. Like many of the other postees on this board, I will not sleep or go dating again this issue is resolved.

There a slight possibility your recieving KHHZ repeater station in Paradise at 98.1, they could be off the frequency.

Where's Paradise at? sounds familiar...but lost thought of where it might come from. Still what radio receiver would pick it up clearly?

Paradise is east of Chico in the foothills,80 miles north of Sacramento. I like Yamaha stereos,I have picked up KLOS 95.5 in Los Angeles from Fresno with a outdoor antenna, and I get stations from as far north as Modesto.

How could I forget...that's where all the smoke and flames came from even shutting down my town a couple of days in the summer. But that's still impossible for a translator to deliver that signal off or on frequency that far. But who knows how many translators that are add ons.

Its not impossible to recieve translator stations at certain conditions, ive recieved 104.3 from Bass Lake, the translator for what used to be The Mountain Cat KAAT 103.1. What do you mean by these smoke and flames?

What I meant with the power they have , I gewt station with less power like 103.3 KPZO that only has 200 watts 60 miles away and KMMT 106.5 from Mammath lakes 80 miles away.

I left out one station that only has 72 watts, KDJK 103.9 Mariposa.
