The company I work for has a rhythmic CHR station on 92.7, called KKUU.
Now, KKUU HD2 airs a completely different format and calls itself "Crush 1039."
This company owns a translator in this market on 103.9 which carries the programming of KKUU HD2
Since the FCC allows translators to re-broadcast HD2 channels, the company effectively has another station in the market: Crush 1039 on 103.9 FM.
Crush has an airstaff, contesting, remotes, billboards and sales sells a ton of commercials.
No doubt, this is far from the original intent of HD. But in our case, it seems to be of value.
