A question about AM reception

I was listening to KLVI this morning and the audio was real fuzzy, drifting in and out and the announcer said that it was due to fog. I've never heard this used as an excuse with AM radio before. It sounds like BS to me.

BS it is. Fog has no noticeable effect on AM reception. In fact, you could argue it would improve the signal as there is more moisture close to the earth which would enhance ground conductivity.

Now on FM, fog might indicate temperature inversions which in turn can increase tropo propagation, so a possible indirect relationship there.

What a stinking pantload of bulls**t.

They were probably operating at low power cuse something blew in the transmitter.

Trying to pass it off as an act of nature rather then a screw up on the station's end... cute

CC BMT sucks so much....Cmon Stan, you think FOG can affect AM audio?? Unless their STL was affected (and it NEVER has been for the DECADES it has been there..but then since CC moved LVI from Sawyer to I10, the STL is different than it was before)......but I seriously doubt it..
92.5's audio is CRAP.....Last I heard it, the reverb is terrible and the processing sounds like a AM station...DAMN CC, get rid of the garbage and make it sound like a FM (KLDE sure sounds better..so does LA 92.9 out of Lake Charles with the same format!).....I have friends in BPT who cannot stand to listen to 92.5 because of its air sound (even the new 88.1 sounds cleaner!)
CC has had poor engineering over the last few years.....but then thats nothing new for CC and the "Golden Triangle" which isnt so golden anymore.

I knew fog wasn't the culprit, but I first heard it before 5 AM during "America in the Morning", and at first I thought it was a problem with the satellite feed of that program, but it continued through local programming as well. Finally, Jim Love stated on the air that the fog was causing the problem. Perhaps this gives us clue about the quality of the engineering being done at CC in the rusty triangle.

I hope to volunteering at the new 88.1 soon. :)
