A question about the Radiosophy receiver

As indicated by this thread's title, I have a question about the Radiosophy receiver for those of you who might be more familiar with the radio's specs.

I live about 125 miles north of Albuquerque, New Mexico. I can pull in many Albuquerque stations (especially those with towers located on top of the Sandia Mountains) on my Grundig radio with the antenna fully extended with a somewhat light to moderate layer of static.

My question is this: how good might the sensitivity be on this radio? I've been considering attempting to save up money for this radio...but I've been wondering if it might be worth it right now. At this point, the only stations broadcasting in HD are some of the stations in Albuquerque. Given the information above, do you think I might be able to receive HD signals from Albuquerque on the Radiosophy unit?

If you might need more information to answer my question, please feel free to ask. If this question can't adequately be answered without having some testing on the area's stations done first, it's okay. But since many people on this board seem to be very knowledgeable about HD radio technology, I figure that I might as well ask!

Thanks very much in advance. :)

i dont know for sure but i would think over 100 miles away you would not. thats almost too far to get the analog signal in most cases.
______________
note to the NAB..satellite radio..its worth paying for!!

Well that is going to be a hard one. Most of the ABQ stations are 100,000 watts and pretty high up. I would assume that you have a pretty good line of sight to those stations.

How is your analog reception now? Are you susing an outdoor antenna?

At about 90 miles, once and a while I can squeak out a Chicago FM from where I am at. Difference is that the Chicago FMs are much lower power than the ABQ stations.

I have no idea on the senstivitiy of these radios (though I have some on order). If you can hang tough until the end of March (when they are supposed to arrive), then I can tell you better.

Just using the antenna that came with the radio (in a fully extended position), I can pull in many Albuquerque stations with a somewhat light to a moderate layer of static. Most stations really don't sound too bad. I haven't tried connecting a powered AM/FM antenna or an outdoor antenna.

I would really appreciate it if you could tell me more about the radios once they arrive. Thanks!
