A question about XM's marketing

I've always wondered this... with XM's marketing department, do they have a traditional promotions or marketing directors who focuses on a specific cluster of stations?

I know that High Voltage has a PD now. And considering that Opie and Anthony and Ron and Fez had a lot of successful parties and live broadcasts in and around the New York City area, something that's been sorely lacking in the new show. (When was the last local live broadcast for O&A that wasn't a cross-promotional gig - St. Patrick's Day? Maybe the crowd wasn't that good, and perhaps that's why they've shied away from doing live broadcasts)

It's annoyed me that the simplest things have not be done to promote the show, and I KNOW XM thinks on a National level instead of a local level - but perhaps you should do both, especially in O&A's bigger markets to help garner more subs.

Thoughts?

XM Marketing ??? Where maybe I blinked when it was on.

The last live remote broadcast was in Boston on April 11th and 12th. They want to do more remote broadcasts but XM won't pay the road manager.

Actually, the last live remote was the X-Games. What I'm talking about is not a co-sponsored live broadcast, I'm talking about an actual "road show".

To play Devil's Advocate, given Kenny's attitude towards the XM management, I can understand where THEY are coming from. If I had someone I didn't know from Adam emailing me telling me how to do my job like the emails Kenny had sent, I'd be kind of annoyed too.

What about the simple idea of wrapping a van with O&A and R&F and driving it up and down the NJ Turnpike and the L.I.E. a few times a week?

They do WOW sticker stops like that already.
______________

Does the WOW motorcycle ride count?

Getting your listeners to do half-assed sticker stops (see Pat From Moonachie) is not the same as getting a street team in an official vehicle. I'm talking rolling advertising, not just stopping somewhere. Besides, the WOW sticker stops haven't been advertised on the show.

They have marketing?

You'd think XM would be at least popping up some billboards in O&A and R&F's former markets, but XM doesn't seem to want to push them as much as fans would like to see. They should be doing everything possible to regain listeners, many of whom don't know O&A are back.

If the defunct 2/month for O&A went to advertising, this wouldn't be an issue.

Stern is going to bring subs to Sirius, there's no reason not to use O&A as "shock" show to deflect some of that...

So, I was dreaming when I heard ads for WOW sticker stops at various exits on the NJ Turnpike?
______________

I forgot to tack on "lately" - I haven't heard a Wow Sticker Stop advertised on-air for at least 5 months.

And the ads you were referring to were for the LIE, not the Turnpike. It's near impossible to have stops off exits on the Turnpike. Rest Areas on the turnpike, maybe?
