A Question for KNUZ alumnae

Mike Schultz of Reverse Time Page has used the picture of the KNUZ Big Mike 6 unit from my blog on his site, identifying the vehicle as a rare Corvair pickup. I didn't even know such vehicles had even been made.

Anyway, a question for KNUZ alums, if any of you go back that far: was the mock-up of the Shure mike a speaker box?, or just for looks?

Here is Mike's feature: http://www.uv201.com/Microphone_Pages/shure_55s.htm

And check out his whole site; it's got a lot of cool stuff on it (just a museum -- nothing's for sale).

I think it was a mock-up. I remember seeing remnants of it in the KNUZ storage area. It did not appear to have any connections inside it. However, I could be wrong; it was 1975 when I went snooping....er...I mean...touring the icon at 4701 Caroline at Blodgett. That was long ago.

Yes, that was a Corvair van of some sort. It was kind of like a forerunner to the mini-van. Chevy repeated that type of production with a car and and a mini-van of the same name in the 1990s. Bothe were called the "Lumina." Chevy discontinued the Lumina van and a few years later, discontinued the car.

I do have some early pictures of Paul Berlin and others in the KNUZ studios, coffee bar, etc. I have part of a heavy plastic KNUZ mike flag. It wasn't one that was used for an actual microphone, because of its size. It must of come from some kind of a mock-up mic. I found those in the attic around 1977 when some remodeling was being done and the door to the attic was unlocked.
