Since you already have "The Cumulus Experience", and it's getting close to the time for Cumulus to enter the Dallas/Ft. Worth market, what kind of changes, if any, can we expect?

Perhaps not a great deal of data to go on here in Houston--as of this moment the Cumulus stable consists of two rimshots: poorly rated Rock KIOL 103.7, hovering in the low to mid 1's (it pretty much replaced the axed Rock format on KLOL) and News/Talk (mostly Talk) KFNC 97.5, which is scouring the absolute bottom of the Arbitrons. Previously Cumulus flopped on 97.5 with Urban KRWP, which lasted three years.

The real test is when the new Cumulus partnership, involving additional investors, comes into play here. They are acquiring longtime CHR heavyweight KRBE, which will be the real barometer of how the revamped company performs.

I expect the new Cumulus entity will probably axe the current KFNC format (high cost, virtually zero return) but it's anyone's guess what they replace it with. They'll probably try to tweak KIOL to squeeze some better numbers, but I doubt it will ever be a major player in the market--its brand of Rock is increasingly becoming a spent force.

Wild card in this is the possible impending sale of Radio One's KROI 92.1. If Cumulus winds up buying it, there could be some shuffling of formats from the rimshots on 97.5 and 103.7.

Right now, Cumulus is considered an also-ran here. We'll see if the new partnership shakes up the operating philosophy.

Well if KIOL isn't doing great there, I seriously doubt it would make an impact on 93.3. I'm still hoping a modern rock station like 99X in Atlanta (who is being sold also to Cumulus in Atlanta).<P ID="signature">______________

Me, too. I checked their 24 hr. playlist on www.yes.com. and their music is 10 times better than The Edge here
