Let's be realistic.
First of all, was flipping Gold 104.5 to Jack a good move on the part of Susquehanna? From the early returns, I'd say yes. After all, it appears to be working. Some would say Jack hasn't proven it has the legs to make it two years, and they're right. However, they likely haven't taken into account that oldies will bill less two years from now as well because the audience will continue to age.
As for whether or not WTPI should flip to oldies, that would depend on the billing. Not every station can be a 25-54 station or a young end station and be successful. The pie just can't be divided up that much. That doesn't necessarily mean WTPI should be the station to target outside of those demos, but it's hard for me to look at the ratings and say oldies is a dead format. There are enough dogs in the market, though fewer than in many markets, that oldies should be something at least a few stations, maybe rimshots or AM's if no one else, should look at.
