Last Sunday, being the beautiful day it was, I decided to sit out in the sunshine and listen to my trusty CC radio. During the time I listened, a few hours, I noticed 790 was on the air, but had no audio, It was like that from about 12 noon until dark. 1470 was off the air for about an hour. 1380 had no audio for an hour. 880 had audio, but, it seemed they were only modulating about 20%. 1430 was splattering down to 1410 and up to 1450 with their IBOC.
I did pick up a new translator for WAY-FM on 94.5. Now, I can get WAY-FM on 88.3, 88.7, 89.9 (this one I used to use for my little CCrane FM transmitter, so I can listen to music outside when I am working in the yard) and 94.5. Also, I heard WFRN. If I adjusted the antenna a certain way, their signal was very strong in Donelson.
I listened to the talk show I have read about on this board on 1470 yesterday. What an interesting show. One caller was someone from California booking time for an interview next week. I also heard a caller who wanted to talk to the book keeper.
At night, WLAC fades in and out similar to a distant AM station. I am not sure why it does this since it is only across town.
WSM had the best signal on the AM side with great audio. From listening to WSM, they sound like they are the best engineered station on the AM band. And, at night, WSM does not fade like WLAC does. I have made trips to central South Dakota and can pick up WSM at night there.
