Will one of you, AT LEAST, temporarily PLEASE bring back OPEN HOUSE PARTY! (on Saturday Nights)
Here's the dull truth for a city this size.......
SATURDAY EVENINGS AS OF LATE: Q-100:
(about 7:30 or 8:00pm) it's been the same old nothing! Just regular liners, same old hits, nothing remixed, NO club music as if it was a random Tuesday night!
AND then when "CLUB-Q" comes in around 9 or 10 it's just cheesy scratching noises, and samples like "c'mon baaay-bieeee" draped over those SAME hits! JEEZ, people at Q! Find a club that actually pays attention to what REAL DANCE MUSIC IS! (i.e. artists like, GROOVE ARMADA, TIESTO, PAUL VAN DYK!)
(Even with all the hip-hop played on OPEN HOUSE PARTY, you'll still hear house and trance mixes from all over the world)
SATURDAY EVENINGS AS OF LATE: STAR-94
(about 7:30 or 8:00pm) it's been the same old nothing, regular liners, same old hits (Except with "Star", add in a few AC/HOT AC songs), nothing remixed, NO club music as if it was a random Tuesday.....MIDDAY!
(mind you "American Top 40" did NOT belong on Saturday Nights but at least it was something DIFFERENT)
AND then when "Star" attempts to play club mixes around 10pm it's even cheesier because it's just cheesy scratching noises, mash-ups and samples like "c'mon baaay-bieeee" draped over like Colbie Callait, Lifehouse, and NICKLEBACK!
The only reason I'm saying OPEN HOUSE PARTY is because it incorporates all those hits, mixed-up, with exclusive club mixes (i.e. a segment on the show called "THE SATELLITE MEGAMIX"), and have weekly guest interviews from film, TV and music.
(OHP is no stranger to ATLANTA, I know. And most cities simply preempt/run local remix shows until 12 Midnight when OHP is over)
AT LEAST WHILE ATL TOP-40 RADIO IS IN THIS SLUMP IT WOULD PROVE OR, AT LEAST SOUND MORE EXCITING THAN THE CRAP WE HAVE ON SATURDAY NIGHTS NOW.
(thanks for listening)
