A Real Tribute To Unkle Rog

Two years ago WCMF radio personality Roger McCall, known to his listeners as Unkle Rog, was shot and killed on a Rochester city street. Recently WCMF and Roger’s family and friends gathered near the site where he was murdered to remember him. Unfortunately the turnout was not what many had expected perhaps do to the cold weather or the neighborhood where the event was held.

May I suggest that instead of remember the date of Roger’s death; celebrate the day of his birth.

Honor “Unkle Rog” by airing his show on his birthday each year. Let his friends and fans hear Roger’s voice once again on WCMF and allow those who never heard “Unkle Rog” experience his creativity and the talent that made him the great radio personality he was.

What a wonderful idea. Even though I got there late due to my shift, I was somewhat disappointed at the lackluster turnout to honor one of Rochester's finest. I will admit...after being there for an hour or so in the cold, I couldn't feel my feet..
