A review of Election Night coverage

I am just going to focus on the broadcast stations NYC mayor's race here.

WCBS was OK, as one of the few things they do right is political coverage. Still they were more of a graphical mess than usual and their crawl was a bit hard to read. Big minus is that they ended the newscast at 11:35 and went to Letterman. Not good.

WNBC had the best coverage, both content and graphics. For those who cared about New Jersey, they broke down the Governor's race results county by county. They had extended coverage to about 11:50.

WABC had the second best coverage, with content and huge bad graphics. They had extended coverage which ran to Midnight.

WNYW had fair coverage. They extended their 10 PM newscast to about 11:27.

WWOR had poor coverage. They did have extended coverage from their 10 PM newscast, but they cut Mayor Bloomberg's speech to go the last half of a repeat of The Bernie Mac Show at about 11:16 or so, since it was oh so important.

WPIX had no coverage of the mayor's speech, feeling that a Sex in the City rerun was more important. Way to go Tribune!
