A Rick Roberts Show Question

Tuesday I drove over to the DMV to renew the license and since it was in the a.m. I needed traffic advisories, so I tuned KFMB for the first time in several years. Rick Roberts was on and he and his listeners seem to have had their skirts in a knot over ethnic foods, of all things. I couldn't listen to all of the show, but I was wondering, if you happened to hear it, was the topic the racist UCSD "Compton Cook-out"? Perhaps saying that it was just harmless fun? Information, please. And, thanks.

I didn't know that Rick Roberts was still on KFMB.

Anyone still listen to that station anymore?

From what I have come to understand Rick Roberts does his show from Oklahoma City. Recently Mark Larson was quoted in the SDUT about the dearth of local talk shows making reference that "only one station actually has a local host and the other is in Oklahoma City." Chip Franklin is definitely in town, so I can only guess that Rick Roberts must be the odd man out of market as KFMB does a really good job marketing him as "live and local."

It must a logistical nightmare between taking their "local" news out of ABC news out of New York ("Karen Chase" is a regular ABC radio anchor) and coordinating the feed of Roberts' show out of Oklahoma City.

I was wondering are those two sidekicks that Rick Roberts has on, are they in Oklahoma as well. I think they kiss up to him.

Aren't you glad that you asked?!

In 2005 Roberts was on KOKC Oklahoma City and KFMB. It appears he is no longer any any station other than KFMB, so I would guess that any sidekicks would be in-studio in San Diego.

used to listen but got tired of the grumpiness in the am hope he is not that miserable in his personal life

While the station can still be heard in San Diego in the early morning, I love turning to Heidi Harris on KDWN out of Las Vegas. She's funny, topical, and just plain fun to listen to.

Honestly I can't take Rick Roberts in the morning. It's like someone is constantly pissing in his Cheerios. I can't take his negativity either.

"hope he is not that miserable in his personal life.."

Uhh.. yeah. He can be for sure. I'm sure he's just ISDN'ing back to the studio and the rest of them are Sandy-Eggo. ISDN equipment is bi-directional, so all they have to do at the studio end is feed him a mix-minus. It's no big deal.
