The media is not destroying A-Rod. A-Rod is destroying A-Rod. Like so many athletes before him, happening far more often in this day and age than it did in the past, A-Rod has let his wealth go to his head. He thinks that just because he "made it", he doesn't have to go out there and take as much batting practice and hustle as much as the other players. Take it from someone who's seen the type before. A man of strong moral character like Albert Pujols does not let success affect his attitude, but A-Rod is not like that - since he's already made it to the elite club, he knows that he can afford to spend more time partying than he does on his game. Regardless what media scrutiny he comes under, he knows he has a team that will stand by him. If I was Brian Cashman, I'd try to work out a trade with the Houston Astros to get the underused and (undervalued) Morgan Ensberg and the pitching help that the Yankees so desperately need - of course, it's highly doubtful we'll see that or any big trade involving them before the deadline.
