Here's my yahoo 360 page. I was the famous Mr. Billboard who introduced a song on occasion for the stunt runt on the top 11 at 11 on Kwnr 95.5

The lines at Kwnr appear to busy. lots of people calling wondering what happened. Hope their answering their phones.

Only reasoon I listened to that station. good luck to him and hope he'll pop up somewhere.

anybody let us know where you find him.

in the meantime, here's my page:

After 19 years, they stick it to him...Then long live The Coyote! It's bad things like that, that make me grateful that I retired from this business.
Its not fun anymore is all I hear from people that are still in it. There's no human element. People dont care about people anymore. Certainly, these corporate bozos dont care about their audience, since they will spend a gazillion dollars to buy a station, but screw the talent, and spend no money on promotion or anything for listeners to enjoy.
I'll stick to my IPOD!

From what I heard he is still employed with Clear Channel in a mostly off-air capacity.

New to nights is Jeff Jay, voicetracked from Albuquerque. Jeff did middays on KWNR a few years ago.

Stunt Runt was their music director(hopefully for KWNR, he still is) Not many people know the market the way he does...
I dont understand how you get rid of someone so liked by the audience and familiar, to get a cheap pretty-boy ho to save a few bucks....(can you say Wild 102 reject?) Just BEG the GM to keep you employed!
Hopefully CC is smart enough(I use that loosely of course) to keep him (Stunt Runt)in some programming capacity....He should program music for the Vegas cluster....I'm sure he could tweak "Party" so they sound better...etc.
He has been in radio here for 25 years, It's a shame to lose loyal people to someone you can never meet. I HATE voicetracking....Thank god for my IPOD.
Nice of KWNR to give Coyote a daypart to win....so they will win middays and nights now(and if Coyote signs market vet Rick Kelly, mornings will win in a few books, then what will KWNR have left...) Yeah, keep getting rid of people we LIKE on the radio...I'm sure they will cut Veteran Bob Bishop when his contract his up. Since CC doesn't care about programming, I'm sure he's making too much money as well....freakin idiots!!

At least CC didn't "stick it to him" as you say Vegasradio.I don't like voicetracking either, but it is very common these days. Except for CHR and other young end formats, it is extremely unusual for Clear Channel to have live and local shows anywhere after 7pm. Some companies like Cox are more extreme and have even fewer live dayparts.

I hate to bring KDWN up here of all places. But Stunt Runt in his own way reminded me of former KDWN personality Pete Moss. No Stunt didn't have the smooth voice of Moss or tell long stories of how glorious the 1930s were. But what they had in common was the way they treated callers like they were the most special people in the world. Stunt Runt seemed to know all his callers by name, he treated everyone like a close friend. I would guess that these regular listeners, some who have been listening for years, feel a great sense of sadness and loss.

Those active listeners sure weren't filling out Arbitron diaries. KWNR did not do good at night in the Fall book. I see it as part of a general trend. Country was down in just about every daypart on both KWNR and KCYE. It wasn't just Las Vegas, Country was down in most markets for the Fall. Why? Christmas music of course, The country music lifegroup loves holiday music! It might be just 3 or 4 weeks (longer in some markets) but the huge spike Christmas stations get comes at the expense of Country as much as anywhere.

Delilah, in part due to a massive December, dominates nights. To put it in perspective consider this...There is a bigger gap (in 25-54 share) between #1 Delilah on KSNE and the #3 station (which happens to be KLUC) than there is between #3 and AM stations like KLAV that don't show up at all!!! Just about every non-Delilah adult station did poor at night this Fall.

It is truly a shame what they did to the stunt runt who has been at Kwnr forever, and since I work with him it makes it even harder to swallow.  The simple fact is this is a business just like anything else and Clear Channel is out to make money.  As far as coporate is concerned it is all about the bottom line, and the bottom line is this.  Kcye has been winning not only in the fall book where the ratings tended to be soft for both country stations but, for the last six months Kcye has beaten Kwnr at night.  It is my belief that maybe this was a hasty move on Clear Channels part but, as a loyal employee I think they should've given him another shot.  But, it is only a business decision that seemed to make sense to someone here in the building.  Best of luck, to Stunt Runt he is a great guy, and will continue to win over people.

KCYE is currently ahead by 4/10ths of one share at night. Was it worth making such a drastic change for that? Will KWNR jump back in the lead at night just because Stunt Runt's gone? Or will COYOTE'S lead grow larger? Are any listeners upset about this, does it give them bad feelings towards KWNR as a whole? Or are there more listeners saying "good I'm glad you finally got rid of that annoying guy"? Did Stunt Runt offer added value that the recent numbers don't reflect such as his appearences on the morning show or the star power he had at concerts, parades etc. Or was he more of an overall liability? Will this go down as a genius move, a major blunder, or something that has no impact in the long run? Only time will tell.

As I mentioned earlier, Clear Channel did keep him employed in a mostly off air capacity. Whether you agree with what they did or not (or even if you are reading this and have no idea who this guy is) you have to admit that was very good and decent of them.

I'm going to confess something that might not surprise you...I know Stunt Runt, I know him well, his real name is Jason Steiner (Sorry Stunt I know you don't like to be called that). He wanted me to relay a message. He has heard that many people in the Las Vegas radio community, even some people who he has never met before, feel bad about what happened and are concerned about him. He wanted you to know how much he appreciates that, it means more to him than you'll ever know.

I have gathered from these posts that KCYE has beaten KWNR at night for the last two books, or half a year. And I am going to make the assumption that this is possibly the only shift where KCYE is beating KWNR judging from the overall ratings of each station. Even though that is good news for KCYE, I really don't think that is the only reason CC made the decision to take Stunt Runt off the night show. This furthers my opinion of Clear Channel that they are a huge corporation that doesn't care about what goes out over the air. You may say "they do care so they were trying to make a move to improve ratings". Wrong. The ratings were probably just an excuse to cut back and voicetrack. This is possibly the worst switch to voicetracking ever made because they replaced a dj who actually has roots in this transient city. He obviously cares about his community/listeners. They not only yank him, they replace him with a guy who moved away. What type of interest and caring is he going to show listeners in a city he wanted to get the hell out of? Out of all the DJs, in all the markets who'd want to voicetrack a shift here, this was the best idea they could come up with?

Was it "decent" of CC to offer Stunt Runt a mostly off air position? Yes. Does mostly off air mean they still get to use him when they want to parade him in front of the listeners? Does mostly mean they will use him promotionally when they feel like it? An even worse thought is if this job will only last for him until things quiet down and they give listeners time to "forget" about pulling him off the air? I wouldn't be surprised if some of those possibilites become true...

I know I sound full of conspiracy theories, but nothing CC could do would really surprise me. And though people have wished him luck in his continued employment at CC, I wish him luck in finding a better gig at a better company.

I'm a radio listener. I don't work in the industry but I do know the Stunt Runt's show had genuine merit. He had a rapport with his listeners and was passionate about the music he played. You could ask him about any song, no matter how obscure, and he would know the artist and even the date the song was released. Stunt Runt added a welcome dash of local color to KWNR. I attended a few station-sponsored events and he always received a big and positive response from the crowds. KWNR will sound bland without him. Whoever made this decision needs to understand that some radio personalities are like family to us and we will not respond favorably if you take them away (especially without even an explanation).

I used to work at the old studios on Desert Inn around the turn of the century at one of the other stations in the building. He was the only one live on the air at night back then. Always a nice guy to me. Is anyone live there after 7 any more?

Some listeners to the Stunt Runt's show have set up a website: savestuntrunt.com. If you're interested in seeing him back on the air as the character we know and love, you might want to add your name to their petition. The website is currently under construction and will have more content soon, but they are very interested in hearing your comments.
